I'm going to apply to michigan in september (out of state) and i was wondering what my chances for admission would be.

ACT= 31

3.36 UMICH GPA at a top 5 Illinois public high school (VERY COMPETITIVE, other local schools use the textbooks for honors level classes that our regular level classes use)

5 on AP European History Exam
5 on AP United States History Exam

tough courseload, sophomore slump happened but i had an excellent 2nd semester junior year (5.2 weighted GPA out of 5)

3 year varsity letterwinner in wrestling
2 years of football
NHS member
very active member of the citizen club
work experience and volunteer work

do you think i have any chance of being accepted? thanks

Reddevil, I'm interested in which "top 5 IL public school" you attended. My top 5: New Trier, Stevenson, Glenbrook North, Naperville North, Evanston. My money is on one of the first three though. If so, you're probably ok because Michigan takes a ton of students from those three.

My list was not in any particular order, but i would agree with you, wolverineFromChi. I can predict this stuff because usually the only students from IL choosing Michigan have families that are quite well off and went to amazing high schools. I'd say well over half the IL residents at michigan are from those 5. Kinda sad if you ask me.

i attend hinsdale central, while it is not on the north side of chicago it is in one of the wealthiest areas in the state (oakbrook, hinsdale, burr ridge all have tons of $$$$). It is an excellent school and many students say there first year in college is not much harder than high school because of the preparation they received at hinsdale central.

Hinsdale Central would have been my number 6, lol. Next time say "top 6 public". And wolverine, we're not ALL from those schools. I, for one, am not. Families from my school tend not to have the money to attend Michigan. We haven't sent anyone there (except me) in at least 4 years.
