I am a junior wanting to apply to U of Michigan. I have taken the hardest courses available to me, including an AP class. I have also taken college classes through dual-enrollment. My weighted GPA is a 4.014 and when I apply to U of Michigan I will have obtained a 4.0 in all 5 of my college classes taken through dual enrollment. I participate in Quiz Bowl, national honor society, robotics, and many other extracurriculars. I obtained a 1330 on my SAT. I was wondering what my chances of getting accepted are.
@Satty34413. You need to check naviance and look up how your school does. Michigan only takes unweighted so no subscores A=4,and so on.
The 1330 is low for Michigan. You want to try to get ACT 32-34 equivalent on Act. I would also suggest to study and take the Act and retake the Sat. Leave room so you can retake both earlier in the fall if needed. Dual enrollment is great.
I just received my new SAT scores and I scored a 1430. My essay score was 7/6/8.
Your jump in your Sat is great but for Michigan needs to be better most likely. Instate 32/33 ACT and 33/34 out of state from what I have seen. I tried to post the Sat to ACT equivalent and got flagged so you can look that up. So like 1490 and higher. You are a few correct answers away. Many people take these tests 3-4 times easily… Just depends on how much you want it! Look at your subscores and work on the weakness but also play to your strengths… It’s a fine line…
If you can afford a tutor even for a few sessions many have found this very helpful… Hit up your teachers while still in school. Like now…
Concentrate also writing an amazing, unique, passionate, personalized essay. It does matter. Get help with it if you need to. Good luck.
If your verbal and math scores are both over 700 (or 1450+) and you have an unweighted GPA of 3.80 (4 = A/A-/A+, 3=B/B-/B+ etc) in rigorous courses with strong recommendations, essay’s and EC’s you should be good. Also, let your counselor know Michigan is your first choice and you would attend if accepted (assuming this is the case)
