Admissions

how hard is it for an american to get in to UBC, average stats? thanks!

not hard at all, im from LA and i got in as a science major with a
3.3 gpa
1550 SAT…

^ ya not hard at all 1550 lol

He could be including Writing as well, you know^

That’s highly unlikely since his GPA is a 3.3. But who am I to assume

how likely is it to get in with a 3.7UW 4.2W and 1470 SAT? I’m from the US btw. It’s impossible to find admissions stats. Thanks.

Yeah, you probably shouldn’t make assumptions like that based on GPA, they can be very misleading! I have a 3.2 and scored a 1930, just as good, if not better than many of my 3.7/3.8 GPA’d friends!

Totally with you Doug on the whole admission stats thing. I know I’m worrying myself to death for no reason, but I can’t help it because there’s no available reassurance!

Well I just got accepted a few days ago! Good luck to you!

ddoug you got in, what were your stats?!! goshh im nervous as hell, my status shows that they dont have my ucla transcript or whatever. UGHHH its ust a verification transcript that i attended, I JUST WANT TO GET IN. lol, i so desperately want that option. i accidently sent in my horrible sat subject scores. heres my stats.

GPA: 4.1
SAT: 1740 (math600, cr600, wr540)
SAT subjects, 500, 540, and 590…blehhhh
rank: 17/720

loll I know how that feels… I got into UBC okanagan instead of vancouver. Sent my Subject tests… such a fail… got a 490 in lit… and a 530 in US history… but I still got into UBC with an president entrance scholarship. I emailed them and asked if there were any way I can go to Vancouver and I am still waiting for a reply…

i got 500 in us history even bigger fail, UGHH i was soo unprepared, i got an A in the class, but took the subject test in a rush a year n a half after i took the class, damnn.

i honestly dont think ill go to ubc unless its the vancouver campus, because i really love toronto, but the only thing is i love the vancouver area…soo its gonna be a choice

UBC is a fairly easy school to get accepted to (overall, still depends on program, for instance Business is much harder to get into then Arts). And from what I can tell, UBC doesn’t care that much about the SAT (then again i was not a US applicant, i was an Int’l one). The problem with UBC is staying in once you get in. The 1st year dropout rate is high, especially if you are in Science or Engineering (where Ive heard that in one year, 50% of the students dropped out), while the Business drop out rate is relatively low (10-15%, from everything Ive heard).
Anyway, if you get accepted into UBC with low grades, do consider if you can actually pass 1st year because the jump from regular high school to UBC is quite big (hell I jumped from IB/AP to UBC and that still felt noticeable).
And yes the Okanagan one aint that great, I would say either UBCV, or no UBC at all.

people are saying its easy to get in, but i have a 4.1 gpa and im put on Hold for faculty of land and food(accident plan on changing next year), but STILL…so idk about that conception.

2.9 weighted 27ACT with 2 classes repeated in freshman year here.
ap chinese 5 ap physics 4.
