I went down to SD 2 years ago for Admit Day from the Bay Area as well. It's good to go if UCSD is one of your choices, and it definitely was a factor to making the final decision of where to go.

I might or might not. I'm still planning college visits with my father right now, and we're unsure of when to schedule everything. We're going to drive up to Berkeley (since it's only 2 hours or so away) and back one day. Then we have to visit UCSD/UCLA, but since they're so far away, we're going to fly to LA to visit UCLA, then fly to SD to visit there, and then fly back home.

We're having a hard time deciding since we don't know when would be the BEST day to visit (Or if there's any particular day to visit that's special, like this "Admit Day"). Wouldn't the campus be somewhat crowded on Admit Day and wouldn't give me a good idea of the campus feel, as opposed to going there on any other day? What's the gist of the day? Anything worthwhile as opposed to just going on a daily campus tour?

If you know someone who goes to UCSD, call them up and tell them you show you around and give you a student perspective. It really did make a difference when my friend showed me around in Berkeley and UCSD in addition to the usual tours and such. I feel that it'll only be a good day to visit some other time if you have someone you know show you the university. Either way, having someone show you around is best.

It's like visiting a friend in a new city!

I've already been to the campus, but I'm considering going again just to reevaluate it (wasn't too keen on it), and to see if something at Admit Day catches my eye.. anything special going on that day? Free stuff, maybe? (;

Congrats people. Anyone see where to sign up for Admit Day?

We're thinking of going to hear the prof/dept discussions. Regular tours don't get you that. But you're right, it'll be an usually crowded day, filled with non-current students (like us) looking lost. If you're most interested in picking up on the every day vibe, prolly go another time.

I'm going to drive over there tomorrow and visit it. It's a pretty campus, although something pretty stereotypically San Diego. I can't make it to Admit Day because of Science Olympiad and the UCLA open house the day after.

I'm probably flying down for Admit Day and coming back in one day as well. I have to be back for a college reception the next day.

Does anyone see a schedule of events for Admit Day anywhere on Tritonlink?

^ Never mind :)
