Admit / Defer / Reject

Here's a thread stolen from Stanford which stole it from UPenn which stole it from Columbia which stole it from Yale. Basically, why do you think you'll be admitted, deferred, or rejected?

I'll give you mine as example:
Admit: Passion for Quizbowl, a science guy with true dedication to community and to civic values. Love of physics. (And hopefully, Princeton will psychically realize that I love them with the burning passion of a thousand suns...cliche, but :-P)

Defer: Just look at the ED thread from last year... you've got to respect the pool of applicants. I may also seem like I'm too scattered interest wise.

Rejection: (Defer)^2

Admit: Love of engineering, love of lacrosse (lacrosse is really popular at princeton), and a balance of the two in my life

Defer: Tons of People Just like me, my SAT's are a bit mediocre at 2240

Rejection: Definately don't stand stand out...altho i was on an allstar team for lacrosse and nationally placed in engineering competition...BUT...again...my EC's and volunteering are pretty sparse beyond that.

100th Post! I had to save it for the Princeton board!

Admit:
- serious love of academia and education that goes beyond "school"
- learned/nerdy/quirky essays
- high level of dedication to a couple of ECs
- overcame a few major obstacles

Defer:
- essays or recommendations may not stand out
- mediocre new SAT grades (*** - 740 math for missing 1, omitting 1) and not-so-great SAT ii grades
- volunteer activities too common

Reject:
- my <3 for learning may come off as obsession with school or grades like any other Asian
- not enough leadership positions
- counselor rec probably sucked because in our class of 800 and class of 3000, the counselors don't really get to know anyone

hey machiavelli where do u go to school? its not stuy by any chance is it?

Admit: Planetary allignment, or perhaps because of my good writing abilities/passion for trumpet

Defer: Kind of bland compared to others... my extracurriculars are very average

Reject: They failed to see my obvious LOVE for the school, and they feel I wouldn't add to the community enough. Let's hope this doesn't happen though :)

Haha, on the topic of planetary alignment, my Mom wants me to turn my app in at a certain "auspicious" time. I guess I'll go along, even though this'll mean a few more days of delay.

Oh, and apparently, Yale restole the A/D/R thread from Stanford because they lost their own. Silly Yalies :P

But it also begs a bigger question: WHY DOES NO ONE STEAL IT FROM US? :(

The Harvard board stole it from Stanford, too... and if this trend continues, in a decade everything will have been stolen from Stanford, including large chunks of their leafy green campus. Hence, Princeton > Stanford.

Yessss, logic wins out again...
