You'll meet them for the first time when you get there. We might not even find out who we're hosting until a day or two before.

what about parents? if they fly out with us do they come to events? or should we tell them to go make other plans?

I believe it's mentioned earlier in this thread, but parents will have their own events to attend... I remember a dinner with a provost and a financial aid presentation. Parents can also go to talks and lectures, but they probably don't want to go to your parties...

There's a breakfast with the Dean, I believe. The complete schedule is posted on admit.stanford.edu. You have to login with your SUNet ID.

Parents should not plan on spending much time in the dorms. We design the dorm programming for students only. And you should take the weekend to see Stanford on your own anyway.

i just want to say stanford students and staff are doing a great job at making their school look super-friendly and inviting compared to other schools i got into.. the admit packacge is awesome and the admit weekend looks super fun. i am deffinantly looking foward to it!

Yeah, any questions? My name's Dan Lopez, a Roho for Admit Weekend 07. Any ideas on anything that YOU guys want us to plan for you guys? Any questions? Suggestions? Whatever?

To bad, I would've liked to come, but I can't really afford the airfare. I mean, it's not that I don't have any money, but I'm not loaded enough to drop $600 on tickets (I have to save up for college). I wish Stanford would just dig into their endowment war chest and spot students the fare for admit weekend. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to try take a tour when I get there in September.

Have fun everyone. I hope I don't miss too much.

No prob Ihope. Lots of people I know didn't make it; really, if you're committed to Stanford already, then there's little that you can really get out of Admit weekend that you can't just get from asking people.

Although it's kinda like saying that yes, you CAN learn AP Chem from studying the tests on your own. AUGH. Bad memories...

Well, for the people who can come and are already committed, I still think it's a great idea to come because you can learn more about the school and most importantly, meet future classmates!

i am so frickin excited

I'm excited too :) Hope you all have a wonderful visit, and maybe some of us will get to meet each other!

My D is off to admit weekend, it's up to you guys now. Thursday-Friday at Stanford, Sunday-Monday at UVA. She is a very independent kid, so I hope she meets some great students this weekend that confirm her impression of the campus that we had while walking around last spring. A cool marching band wouldn't hurt either ;-)

rick

where are u guys staying. I am at the stanford inn hotel

I am still here in Dallas, but my wife is at Creekside Motel. What I am hearing so far from my D is just awesome.

Hello everyone,

I have found CC for a while, but this is my first post, and I'm super excited coming to Admit Weekend tomorrow, too! I'm from CA, and the weather isn't too great here right now, but I'm sure the awesome people I meet there will more than make up for it. I have a question, though (cross fingers for someone to still be awake). I never got my AW handbook (I moved recently, and it might have gotten lost in the mail...), so I never found out about the medical release forms until today. I can't call the office at this hour, and I'm coming to Stanford tomorrow =( Could anyone please let me know if I can just pick up the forms and get them signed there? (I'm not 18 yet, but my mom will be taking me there.) Any reply is greatly appreciated. Thank you =)

Yeah definitely - it shouldn't be a problem at all, as long as you have a parent there to do them. And yes - we can definitely hook you up with a new handbook. =)

Definitely some of the best couple of days EVER!!! :D

Awesome! I'm glad you're enjoying it. :)

I'm glad you're having a good time at Admit Weekend!

As I mentioned in another post, for anyone who didn't have a great time at Admit Weekend, I just want to let you know you might still love Stanford. I felt incredibly out of place at Admit Weekend for a variety of reasons and it just seemed kind of awkward and artificial. Yet I love Stanford. So if you have particular concerns feel free to ask us current students (you all have permission to PM me) if what you didn't like was part of Stanford culture or just part of Admit Weekend culture.
