Admit weekend plane tix & sightseeing?

Hmm, actually... Samtrans says you can't have "excess luggage" on board between SFO and San Francisco, but you can have a carry-on. But then there's another bus you can take, Route 292.

I guess it's only good for going from Stanford to the airport.

Wow, I'm really confused.

hey gsp,
what's the easiest/cheapest way to get from SFO to campus? should i use Bart or Caltrain?

thanx

dulce2 mentions SamTrans, and that seems like the cheapest way to go. It's a 1:05 hr. one-way trip, and as long as you don't have a lot of luggage, it is probably the easiest way from SFO to Palo Alto (Stanford).

It looks like travel on SamTrans between SFO or Millbrae and Palo Alto is just $1.50 as dulce2 has stated. http://www.samtrans.org/fares.html It is really unfortunate that SamTrans has a bad attitude regarding luggage !!!

LUGGAGE RESTRICTIONS:
Patrons may not transport luggage on Route KX in either direction between San Francisco Airport and downtown San Francisco. Carry-on pieces, such as a briefcase or tote bag are acceptable.
http://www.samtrans.org/pdf/Schedules/Route_KX_10-10-05.pdf

Otherwise, take BART from SFO to the Milbrae Station (6 min. / $1.50), and then take either **CalTrain/b or **SamTrans Bus 390/b to Palo Alto.

Just a warning about samtrans. If traffic is bad it takes fer EVER. From SFO to the city, take the bart.

And if you think (a) that you'll be soaking in all of SF's 'gay vibes', you're going to be very bored on the two blocks that are the Castro and (b) there's any point to checking out Boba joints - you wont spend enough time in sf to care. Sorry to rehabilitate the bubble

Haha, don't worry about not having enough time on April 23rd. Just remember that you'll have 4 incredible years to "do the City" (and everywhere else in California) right !!!

haha...ok thanks guys. If i don't find gay couples in SF, I am going to cry. But if there's no boba, I might have to go to yale :(. j/k, stanford rox.
oh yeah, and do those shuttles run on a half-hour basis or does it vary on weekdays vs. weekends? thanx

How about a 6:00 flight out of Oakland? Too late/early?

Take BART to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station (22 min. / $3.35) and grab an AC Transit LLine 50 bus (15 min. / $1.75) to the airport.

I think there is some kind of BART-to-Bus transfer that you purchase at the BART station before boarding, that would save you a whole 25 cents off the bus fare...wow!

BART runs every 20 minutes to Oakland on Sundays.
AC Transit Line 50 bus runs every 30 minutes.

There may be other alternatives from S.F. to Oakland Airport, but this is the only one I know of.

AirBART

Links the BART COLISEUM/OAKLAND AIRPORT station to OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT every 10-20 minutes.

Total travel time for the shuttle is 15-30 minutes depending upon traffic.

Fare: $2.00 Adult; $.50 Children, 11 and under, and Senior or Disabled with I.D. Fares can be paid on-board bus with exact change only. For information concerning BART and connecting bus service, call (510) 465-BART.

The AC Transit Line 50 sounds cheaper and faster, but AirBART may run more often.

oh no.... I meant more: how long are we going to explore sf? What would be a good flight time?

After dragging your luggage around the City all day, you will be glad to get on a plane around 6 pm or 7 pm.

Besides, there's not a lot happening on a Sunday evening anyway. Once the sun goes down and the winds kick in, you will want to go home !!!

So......who's going? And where should we meet?
