^^Lol, that is so true…he was kind of arrogant, but he was also a good laugh (when the jokes weren’t aimed at me). He underestimated the randomness of Stanford admissions though…haha, they ended up choosing me! haha. Why, I do not know…

I’ll be the first. My school is a high percentage black school, in a poorer neighborhood, which happens to have a magnet school on its 3rd floor (which I attend). Someone from my magnet school was wait-listed to Stanford last year, but that’s as close as anyone’s gotten, I believe.

Well I’ll be the second person to be accepted to Stanford, but I’m the first one to go that’s not a recruited athlete, if that matters.

Anyway, I’m going to admit weekend too. I’m so excited!

^^I see you are “Stanford or UChicago”…have you made a decision yet?

I’ll definitely be at Admit Weekend; I have to leave early Saturday though. I’m one of 3 kids this year from my school, and we’re all probably going to attend. I know I am (the financial aid is legit!). Last year 2 people went, and the year before 4.

^^I was like, “Damn! That’s a lot!”, but then I realized that you’re from California…I doubt it’s easier to get in being from CA, but more apply probably? Nevertheless, congrats!

Yep, more would definitely apply them from Minnesota or Michigan.

Anyone else finalize their plans for Admit Weekend? We just bought tickets today. I’m flying in from Yale Thursday at 12:05 am >< I’m leaving on Sunday morning. yay I’m so excited see you there =D

Nothing’s final, but I’m leaning heavily towards Stanford right now. Which makes me feel guilty for making my mom buy the expensive plane tickets to Chicago — I think I may end up canceling my RSVP to its overnight but I’m not sure yet :/

llpitch - I bought my plane tickets too I’m arriving Wednesday night and leaving around 1:30 on Sunday…so that means I’ll get back home around 10ish because of the time difference, ahh!

@dpattz: Yeah, a buttload of people applied from my school. The thing is, since we’ve got the UC system, most competitive people shoot for Top 20 schools + the top UCs instead of going for the top 50-75 schools. For a lot of people, Stanford was the only private school they applied for.

I bought my plane ticket as well. Flying solo. Anyone bringing their parents?

going solo as well, im counting on there being several other pre-frosh in my flight so I can follow them to Stanford.

I am unfortunately. My parents want to see the college I choose. “If I’m paying for it, I’m gonna see it first.”

GO CARDINAL (they’re going to be playing in a few minutes)!

Anyway, we booked our tickets tonight (my dad is coming with me…). I’m so excited!

A really random question: what is Tufts Syndrome?

My dad wants to go with me just so I won’t be alone on the flight and in the airport and to make sure nothing happens to me. I’m 18, but an only child. LOL

Oh brother… =)

Also, Tufts Syndrome is when a university tries to protect their yield by turning away very qualified applicants because they don’t think they’ll attend their school. I believe that’s what it is.

Lol, my dad wants to see Stanford because he’s never been…haha.

Okay, that’s what I thought it was…why is it called Tufts Syndrome though…were they the uni that started it? haha, I’m surprised it’s not called WashU Syndrome.

hahaha dpatzzlover; careful where you go around saying that! the washu boards would probably tear you apart for such blasphemy :P

I think Tufts may have been one of the main universities to practice it…?

lol I got Tufts Syndrome’d at WashU.

Lol, yeah, it’s ridiculous. I don’t even think the WashUers would deny the fact that WashU wait-lists a crapload of people; it’s a bit crazy.
