Yeah, the Duke girl is right.Oh, yeah! (soto voce: then maybe I'll get picked off the waitlist)

Frankly, the social aspect comprises a large part of the college experience. There is definitely a different "vibe" at Stanford compared with many east coast schools, and there is no better way to find out if it matches with what you want than by coming and experiencing it for yourself. Not to sound too harsh, but if you expect to be able to learn everything about Stanford in two and half days (which it seems Sarah Ball and you believe yourself capable of doing), you're slightly misguided.

Personally, I had an amazing time at Admit Weekend last year. I went to classes that weren't on the "proscribed" list, I talked to random people, asked questions, and got a general feel of what college life was going to be like. People didn't give me cookie-cutter answers to my questions. There are ups and downs to every school, even Stanford.

The bottom line is this: your attitude. Any admit weekend is going to have its share of die-hard recruiters. It's up to you to make it what you want.

also, Sarah Ball stayed less than 24 hours. If she'd actually stayed the whole time she might have learned something.
