Admitted Eagle Day

<p>Did anyone go today? What did you think of it?</p>

<p>I wasn't able to go, so I'd really like to hear from those of you who did...</p>

<p>Thanks for starting a thread kq.</p>

<p>I went...
First off, it was really damn cold...
In the morning, we were able to choose 3 45 minute lectures given by different professors about their department. I chose English/History, PreLaw and PoliSci. All of the professors were very passionate about their subject and kept marvelling at the incredible resources they have available at BC. They stressed that teaching is the first priority (there are no fulltime researchers at BC), and that less than 5% of all lower-level classes are taught by teachers' assts. Freshman may have 1 or 2 classes of over 100 kids, but the freshman writing seminars only have 15 per class. I was actually in a lecture hall with over 100 people for one of the discussions, and I was surprised that it still felt quite cozy.
Then we ate lunch at cafeterias. The food was very good, and there was a huge selection, but it was also very expensive. This probably isn't as apparent to students because they are using a BC charge card and not cash to pay for stuff.
After lunch, we could go to student life seminars or tour the dorms. Their are freshman dorms on the main campus (Upper) and a mile off campus (Newton). Upper is much bigger (like 5:3), with huge dorms. The rooms are slightly bigger on Newton, with smaller dorms (kids say there is more community on Newton). In addition, there are a good number of forced triples at Upper, but none at Newton. However, you do have to take a shuttle to the main campus for classes if you live on Newton.
The kids I talked to, both students and other kids accepted early action, all seemed very nice, articulate, and confident (and the girls were unbelievably hot). Diversity doesn't appear to be BC's strong point, however, if you're lookign for that.
I was sure about BC before I came yesterday, and I love the place even more now.</p>

<p>it seems that a lot of people probably werent able to attend becasue of hte bad weather do you think they will have another day like this or no?</p>

<p>Students admitted EA are also welcome at the Admitted Eagle Days geared towards RD aceptees in April. I don't know if there are such days between now and when RD decisions come out, except the Honors Day in Feb (i think the 5th).</p>

<p>I also went. It was very good i thought except for the fact that it was so damn cold but other than that everything else was great. I attended the general info session about the Carrol School of Management, Finance and Political Science/Economics. The professors who talked about their areas seemed pretty good. There seem to be quite a lot of good opportunities for those who graduate from the Management School (thats the one i know about because im gonna be majoring in Finance and Accounting). I was very happy to hear that. Even though i went to BC before and even did the day visit, this past saturday def made me like BC even more i don't know why but the whole atmosphere, students, professors and everything about it. I briefly talked to a couple of students there and they were sooooo nice and they absolutely love it there. The dorms that i saw were sooo nice, well the doubles on upper were huuge, but the triples seemed a little crowded but not that bad. I didn't get a chance to go to Newton and see the dorms there, hopefully i'll get upper. Also i must say that BC def does live up to its reputation as a pretty people school :-).
So has anyone decided they are def. going to BC?</p>

<p>i forgot to say that from what i saw there is absolutely nooo diversity at BC</p>

<p>"nooo diversity at BC"... well, that sucks.</p>

<p>diversity is more than just skin color and ethnicity</p>

<p>I know what she meant though... I've been to the campus numerous times, everyone looks like they've just walked out of an Abercrombie and Fitch/J Crew/Polo catalog. Not saying that there's anything wrong with that...</p>

<p>even though the place isn't very diverse, i don;t think you'll find the *****iness or exclusivity you would at fairfield or villanova</p>

<p>aah censors... the word was b i t c h i n e s s</p>

<p>Did it appear that most of the visitors were from the local area. Perhaps many of the out of staters couldn't make the trip.</p>

<p>yeah i would imagine... we still have 3 feet of snow left over from last sunday</p>

<p>lol, well that's good to hear kq09. i personally don't mind or care if everyone just walked out of like a 'crombie catalogue, and your right shawnneves how diversity applies to more things other than just skin color/ethnicity. when i said "no diversity sucks" i meant no diversity in general, but i'm sure that the BC kids are unique in their faith, personality, upbringing etc... which is cool.</p>

<p>Well said Rovee</p>

<p>hey... was it casual or formal?</p>

<p>...casual...</p>

<p>Do you think the administration is working on this diversity issue?</p>

<p>Like accepting more URMs...</p>
