Eagle Day!

Hey, who here attended eagle day and how did you guys like it? what were your thoughts? what did you visit?

I thought it was better than expected. I went to bio, political science, and pre med sessions. Dont know if i will go to BC but a sweet day.

Yeah, it was informative. I never realized the true breadth of the liberal arts education and its advantages. I also was intrigued by the extensive study abroad program.

Our daughter is doing her junior year abroad this whole year. Not only is she having an incredible experience, but she has found BC to be unbelievably supportive, helpful and knowledgable about all the opportunities, and in matching the students to the programs available to them!! We have been impressed with the organization and responsiveness that BC has exhibited toward the students and parents involved in these programs. An outstanding Study Abroad Office!!!!!!

It only added extra points to our already super high regard for Boston College, and our daughter's experiences there!!

Felt really disappointed. The food weren't great and the weather was awfully cold. The drive up there was also confusing and the people weren't too informative.

I disagree with drinkingmilkalldaylong. I thought it was very informative. I got to meet some very interesting people and I didn't feel I was getting the "puppy show" song and dance you sometimes feel with admissions people. I was actually impressed at how blatently honest some of the info sessions were. The weather was cold, but c'mon, it's January in New England, so what do you expect? I didn't think the food was that bad at all. And of course the campus was stunning. Then again, it was a sunny day.

What I didn't appreciate was the disorganization, I mean c'mon .... you'd think they have done this before?? Those dinky little signs did not help much. And why would the main bookstore be closed on a day when you're expecting hundreds of visitors?? The lines at the "Hillside Shoppe" were ridiculously long ... so no BC sweatshirt for me (maybe that's a sign?) I also didn't appreciate that only Catholic services were listed in the program, especially since they make a big deal about how religiously diverse the place is. And what was up with that program booklet anyway?? It looked like it was typed up by my six year old sister. Not a very good impression at all.

We'll see how it compares to GAAP weekend ...

The food? Dude, they had to feed a thousand people in a short amount of time....what did you expect? A filet mignon?

Of course it was cold. It's Boston. It's January. How was the drive up there confusing? You either go through Boston via Comm. Ave, or take the highway the other way.

I'm also not too sure how they weren't informative. It was a general overview type of thing, not a specifics-oriented seminar. They were just there to give an overview of the courses offered and other aspects. Of course, when you have people asking questions about how it compares to Harvard and MIT in economics, you're just wasting time. People were asking irrelevant, blatantly specific questions, as well as asking questions that were already answered.

I found it very easy to get from place to place. They give you a frickin' map! The buildings were right next to each other as well.

Maybe s/he was hoping for Clam Chowder?
:-P

Lol, Mystic Merlin I was in that econ session too, I love how the prof answered along the lines of "get real, if you had an early acceptance to Harvard you wouldn't be here."

Overall, I thought the profs were incredibly honest and didn't try to glamorize it too much, also the weather was spectacular when compared to the average New England day.

D was on the fence about BC before the weekend, so it was a good experience. We both left with a very positive impression of the school and its academic opportunities. I was also impressed at how frank the presentations were.

And Bloomster is right. New England got hit hard with a big snowstorm today, though the campus must look even more beautiful in the snow.
