Where exactly is this offer located? If I’m on this site [University of Chicago College Admissions | Campus Open Houses](http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/visiting/openhouses/) and not seeing that then will I have to pay for transport myself? If so, buuuummer.

Midway is definitely the better choice in airport- less crowded, much cheaper cab ride to campus (about $20) than O’Hare (up to $70).

That’s true. I guess since my city is so close to Chicago it would be a waste to give me transportation money.

Question for those of you considering attending the April programs by plane: when do you plan on flying in? A day early?

I don’t know whether I can catch a red-eye flight on the Wednesday night and arrive in town in time for the Thursday 8 AM check-in. If I do that, I’m not sure if UChicago will have a place for me to leave my luggage. If I don’t and come a day early or something, then I’d have to get a hotel room. It’s a bit confusing how this will all work out.

Midway is definitely the better option given its better proximity to the campus. However, I too received the same email referenced in #17, and the University offered to pay the full range of travel expenses regardless of the airport destination:

Regarding the email, I do believe that the offerings were made on the basis of financial need and geographical residence. If you are curious, I live in Minnesota, but I do not find that to be too much of a logistical disadvantage.

My plans are still contingent on other college decisions, but I would probably arrive on the same day as check-in to minimize school absences.

I’m coming from O’Hare! Dammit! >:[

hey, I’m getting an almost free education. The least I can do is visit campus. :)

O’Hare isn’t that bad. i’d just plan your bus routes carefully.

^ You are so lucky. I got virtually no aid for Chicago whatsoever. :(

desperatechaos, i plan to arrive in chicago at 7:30 AM on thursday and take a taxi to campus. this may not be possible for you because the flight from california will be pretty long. if this is the case, the only option i can think of is to stay in a hotel room on wednesday night. check expedia to make sure that there’s no way for you to arrive on time on thursday morning.

Would it be possible for us to just show up late?

Or leave early? :/

I received a travel grant with their fly-in program. Will definitely attend :).

I may arrive late too, if that’s possible… Pretty sure there aren’t any flights that could get me there in the morning, and all the Wed. afternoon flights are before school is out. :/

Selter01, with the travel grant, were you EA or RD?

All,do you attend on your own or does a parent attend?

I’m driving in with my mom because she wants to see Chicago. idk if there’s much for the parents to do other than the family reception, but she wants to go, so that’s that.

Is everyone going to the admitted students weekend…?

I’m pretty much turning this into a little vacation, lol.
Leaving from LA on Wednesday and not leaving Chicago until Sunday :D

kitkatkatie; that’s great. Did your acceptance come with Fin Aid? My site doesn’t show anything. Will have to see what the mail brings.

Anyone going alone? If I go, I’ll be going alone. I kind of want to stay an extra day to explore the city, but that’s a bit of a scary thought to do it alone.
