admitted to UCSD for fall 2017 (communications major), but after, getting a D or F in Calc 2.

Hey!

So i was admitted to UCSD for fall 2017 for my alternate major - communications. I applied everywhere as an economics major so i had to go up to calculus 2. but for communications major at UCSD, there is no math thats needed to transfer.

i’m currently finishing off my last semester at community college, and im in calculus 2 and im at a 65% in the class with my final next week… im trying my hardest to pass with a C.
If i end up with a D or F in the class, but my GPA is still above a 3.0, will I be okay to transfer still or can my admission get reversed? I know if it was a required class its definitely not okay, but i just want to confirm.

Getting a D or F would be grounds for having your acceptance rescinded so try your hardest to get that grade up to a C. Each case is different and no one size fits all so UCSD would have to review your transcript again if you happen to get any grades lower than a C.
Best of luck.

See if you can meet with the prof. Ask him/her to review key concepts with you. Go to your campus tutoring center, and get a study group organized. You are in danger if you get a D or F, not going to sugarcoat it. Do everything possible to get a good grade on your final.
