Advertising vs Fashion Design

I plan on doing a double major in Economics and Advertising or Fashion Design.
I'm interested in fashion design and plan on doing buying or market research with it. But the con is that there are less jobs and internships compared to Advertising which is almost as demanded as Economics. I would like to work in the fashion industry or do market research or both. The con for advertising is most likely I'll end up being an ad executive and I'm not very interested in becoming one.

Which major is better for job placement and the long run? Which major would be better to work in the fashion industry? Which would be better to complete market research with?

Thoughts? Thanks.

I would suggest exploring Fashion Marketing/Merchandising majors. Maybe not as many schools offer it, but it sounds like a perfect choice for you. Don’t rule out other majors within the business school of your uni of choice.
