Advice for Fall 2014 Transfer to top LACs?

I'm a current first-year student at a California Community College. I'm planning to transfer to some top Liberal Arts Colleges (Claremont McKenna, Wesleyan, Colgate, Trinity, Occidental).

I know that as a first year, they will still look at my high school record and SAT/ACT scores. I'm actually planning on retaking them to get much better scores.

HS GPA: 3.36 (Took 6 AP Courses)
AP Exams: AP Literature (4), AP Gov't (3), AP US History (3); Didn't pass other exams...
SAT/ACT: 1810 (Planning to retake, aiming for 2000+)
HS Extracurriculars: School District Governing Board Student Representative; Speech and Debate (4-Year Varsity) Event Leader & National Forensics League Outstanding Distinction; Mock Trial (4-Year Varsity); Youth in Government Elected City Councilmember (2013) and Deputy City Manager (2012); Junior State of America (Secretary); LA County-ROP Outstanding Student Competition Gold Medal; Camp Kindle (Project Kindle) Counselor in Training (2012)

College GPA: First Year (Enrolled in 17 units, aiming for a 4.0)
Extracurriculars: Associated Students Student Lobby Committee; Bank Teller (Part-time job); Circle K International. (I'm still waiting for feedback on other volunteer/intern positions)

Advice in terms of areas for improvements, essays, etc? Anything would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hey!
I’m in the same boat as you. I am a first year at a CC and basically looking into a lot of the schools you are too. I talked to an admissions officer at CMC and they do not require CC students to send in standardized tests, however I feel as if it might help if you did well. I would say that the essays are really important and make sure you do your best on those and make them clear and concise. Good Luck! :D

Awesoooome.

Which CC are you currently attending? How are you doing so far with the whole transfer application process? :)
