Advice for transferring to University of Pittsburgh or Temple U.

Background:
I'm currently a student attending a community college in my area and I'm trying to decide which of these two schools I should transfer to. I want a degree in civil engineering, which both schools offer, and I live close to Temple and would only have to pay the in-state tuition for both universities, they're also fairly close in price.

So my deciding factors are:
- Temple is in Philadelphia, where I want to live for the majority of my life. (This would possible give me more connections in Philadelphia than if I were to go to Pitt?)

Pitt has a higher ranking, but I've heard that it's not important because they're both only mediocre schools for engineering.

Pitt offers more variety in their engineering disciplines, in case I decide to switch majors.

ANY advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you to those who reply in advance.

Those are NOT mediocre schools for engineering! Check if they’re ABET accredited: that’s what matters.
Does your CC have an articulation agreement with one of these schools? Do you meet the conditions? Then that would be the easiest for you.
Yes going to Temple would provide you with more connections in Philadelphia, but you may also want to discover another part of the State. Pitt is well-known in the State anyway, so there will be plenty of Pitt graduated in Philly, and what will matter is what internships you can get – and Pittsburgh has lots of companies. So really, go where you’d rather see yourself for these two years, work hard, and enjoy. :)
