Advice Needed-H&SS or MCS for Med School

Well, I was accepted into HSS for Psychology and MCS for Chemistry. I don't know which one I should major in since I'm planning to go to Medical School. I know Chemistry will be harder and possibly decrease my GPA and GPA is important for Medical School admissions. Also, majoring in chemistry would be more extensive than necessary for medical school. The problem is, most people change their majors or career goals in college. As of right now I don't think I will change goals, but you never really know. With Chemistry I would have better opportunities to maybe go into Chemical Engineering or any other engineering prospects, but with Psychology I'm somewhat limited with what I could go into involving math and science. So what would you do in my position? Any help is greatly appreciated. :)

I am in a similar situation as you. I got into HSS and MCS as well.

I plan on doing cognitive science with a concentration in neuroscience. this way; I will get the computer + math + science + chem knowledge i need for med school.

So would you say that I should major in Chemistry?

I would go with a major in Chemistry as it is seemingly easier to get involved in research through the major. Plus, if you end up wanting to go into Psychology instead, it will be easier to switch from MCS to HSS than the other way around. As far as GPA goes, CMU has great resources–you’ll do well if you take advantage of these regardless of major, I’m sure.

I don’t know if you like Biology, but CMU offers a B.S. in Biology and Psychology as well [singular degree for both diciplines]. The students I have spoken to say that Bio majors generally take a lot of Chemistry, so that’s something to consider.
