i have a very annoying white pomeranian (not mine, my family's) who barks at times that it is NOT NEEDED. for instance, when a family member gets off the couch, she starts barking like crazy. or if somebody runs upstairs to answer the phone, she goes ballistic with barks. it is very aggravating for all of us and we need to remedy this immediately. it's been doing this for about 3 years now. this is not a new dog - we've had it for 7 years, but recently it has acquired this habit.

do you have any suggestions? what dog collar would work? is there a dog necklace that you attatch to its neck and can send a signal to the dog to not bark when it does bark? do you experience this problem as well with your dog?

what could solve this? please help. it's very frustrating. this dog barks excessively - it's not like normal dogs.

oh i just thought of something
what about those dog whistles? Like, i heard that dogs hate that sound and that they sit down and cover their ears to block the noise.

or you could just choke the dog....jk, maybe you could reward the dog when it is quite or something, maybe he'll get the hint, and give him a cold stare when he barks ( dogs hate cold stares...I think)

when my chocolate labrador used to bark/jump on people or tables/go into a room he`s not supposed to be into, we took an empty coke can that was filled with a few coins and threw it near him (not like AT him) and it makes a loud clanging noise and kind of scares him i guess? it worked for us

Put it in time-out when it barks? Like lock it in a bathroom or something, I'm not really sure. Or I guess you could give it treats for not barking.

My dog is the spawn of the devil. I mean, I love her, but she is barking mad (pun intended :) ) She barks all day and night because she wants to come inside, and then in the wee hours of the morning, she gnaws her way through the metal fencing on the bottom of our screen doors, rips through the screen, and ends up in my bed! She stinks hella bad so we really can't have her in the house. I mean, I yell at the friggin dog, practically throw her outside, adn her tail is still wagging happily!

I have a pomeranian. Extremely high-maintenance dogs, pomeranians are.

Mine howls with the piano (it was cute and amusing the first few months) and she howls with classical music. She also howls when you call her name repetitively.

Anyway, my dog barks a lot. How we get her to shut up is to tell her to shut up in Vietnamese. She understands Vietnamese better than English, which is quite a surprise since she's surrounded by English.
