First off, congrats to all those who have decided to come to UCSD in the fall. I'm a 1st year as of now, and I am really loving this place!

I would appreciate some advice on my Fall09 classes, especially since most of these classes are new to me being it the first time taking any upper division classes for my Neuroscience major.

As of now, to continue with the 4 classes a term mentality (though I know it may not be possible anymore), I have settled with...

Chem 140A
Phys 1B and 1BL
Chem 6BL
Chem 143A

Is this two much for my 2nd year fall schedule? Would the workload be too much to handle, or is it possible to deal with?

I havent taken Ochem before, so should I put off the CHem 143A lab class?

Any other advice?

Thanks for all of your help and suggestions!

I don’t think you can take CHEM 143A until you’ve completed CHEM 140A.

PHYS 1B/1BL will probably be the classes that you’ll put off till the last day, not because you are lazy but because CHEM 140A and 6BL (especially 6BL) will take up the biggest bulk of your study/work time. If 6 hours of lab and one hour of lecture a week in addition to all the time you spend outside of lab do not intimidate you then go for it. Just be prepared to study a lot.

I also don’t think you can take 143A until you finish 6BL.

Chillax with the labs…6BL may be somewhat “easy” but not in terms of the workload.

Add in a different class instead. Bio if you’re insane, or a GE if you want to stay sane.

Personally, just because 6BL is such an intense class (in terms of workload), I’d just take Ochem, physics, and 6BL + a joke class like music/theater/fine arts/a class you can PNP it/you get the point.

mmm I see…
thing is, I’m done with my GE after this summer (I only have one quarter of hild 2 left to take by the end of this year).

So I guess I’ll just take a random class, huh? Won’t hurt, right?
