So I just read the sticky post above that recommended a year of art or music if applying to selective schools. That was one I haven’t heard before. We are a family that appreciates music and art, partially because we are without any talent of our own unfortunately. As a result, it never made it onto D’s radar when signing up for classes.
Are any of these avenues better than others? D has thought about trying a ceramics class, but hasn’t. It doesn’t fit great into her junior year either. If she takes 1-2 quarters (we are on a block schedule) as a senior does that seem adequate? Does it matter much at all? I know it’s just one factor but I’m trying to help her keep all options open. Her brother got into an Ivy without this, but he had a hook she doesn’t.
