advice on whether I should retake the SAT? Thanks!

Hello, sorry if you’ve seen 1000 posts like this of people asking if they should retake this or that, but I’ve been thinking about this for a while and would really love some advice!

stats:
first/only sitting of SAT in march 2016, so it was the new one: 730 reading, 770 math (1500 total) 6/6/6 essay
sat subject tests: math 2 (800), physics (760)
act (took once): 35 composite, 21 writing (!!! i know, i know…)

soooo i did well on the sat, but better on the act, BUT my act writing SUCKED. also, if this helps, i think i have solid extra curriculars, but not super special, and all A’s or A pluses for grades with lots of APs (for the number my school offers).

so should i retake the sat? or just send in my act, or both?

If you were applying today I would say send both.

Adcoms know the writing scores were wonky this last year, which is why a number of schools have dropped the +writing requirement. They are going to see a lot of 35/21 scores this round. You will not be alone.

You could prep and take the SAT again, but honestly only if you have nothing better to do with that time.
