After 2 years of research, we STILL didn't know

outwestmom...you were right. It seems like the right choice all the way around. Glad your freshman is so happy...

kdos--Congratulations to your S! That is wonderful to hear!

kdos. Congrats. Happy outcomes to you! Congrats again on staying semi-sane. Can only help your baby.

Another congrats! And a bottle of cyber champagne!

How great is this? I think it might qualify under berurah's "Yikes!" , "Crikey!"--or even a "Shivers!"

Kdos,
Congratulations from another Wash U parent! The kind of interaction with professors your son experienced is easy to find there.

thank you all!

lizschup- I cannot believe what an great weekend he had. A local friend (parent of a grad of WASHU) said the same thing you did...that basically what he experienced in the weekend IS what the school is like. Also, not just the profs, but the students as well, were very friendly. What year is your child?

kdos!

How did I miss this!! Congratulations!!!! I am so thrilled for your kid!!! Fabulous news!

thanks momofthree...yes we are beside ourselves. We feel very lucky that it all came together so well.

Came together?

That was manna falling from the skies, LOL.

kdos,
I am SOOO happy for you and your son! Congratulations... I bet you have been in heaven for 24 straight hours. Full tuition!!! Wow!

cheers- :-)

momof2inca- < bet you have been in heaven for 24 straight hours. Full tuition!!! Wow!>

Thanks! My S and I both were really out of it this afternoon. I slept for 3 hours! I am the one that cannot sleep during the day at all. He was so lethargic for awhile that he could barely move. It's amazing what the relief of stress can do!

I think your S's couple of days at Berkely will solidify that for him as well, don't you?

Kdos,
My son is a sophomore. I recommend the artsci week-ends and parent's orientation for you. The co-author of "Letting Go" is a dean there and she gives a talk on the subject.

kdos, Congratulations! What great news for the whole family! I'm so excited for your son. My D probably met him this past weekend at one of the CMML events. She was hosting 2 students, a Lien and one other. She really likes the lecture series they attend. Personal attention is def. coming his way. Is he still considering other schools or is the decision pretty much made?

Nothing in the college search process is more important than campus visits and direct contact with college personnel. Nothing. And this comes from one who started the process by reading as many books and seareching as many web sites as I had time to handle.

I am excited for all of you and all your kids and I have to say, one year later, BOY WAS THIS YEAR EVER MORE FUN THAN LAST! Instead of all the agonizing and tension and decision making and deadlines and trips and second guesseing and waiting etc., I get to sit back and watch the blooming! (and pay the bills). So, enjoy the new ride and congrats all around!

Kdos:
Congratulations!!!! That's great news about the Lien scholarship - and a full-tuition one, too.

Congrats and enjoy the years ahead while he's at WashU. I'm with ohmadre - the blooming is the relaxing reward for the hard work of excellent weeding and fertilizing.

Congratulations!

Can you tell us what a student must do to win one of these awards? Is there a typical profile? What are the winners like--are they nerdy kids, personable, geniuses or well rounded student scholars? Do extracurriculars play a part?

TIA.

lizschup-we planned on attending. As I haven't seen the campus yet I am very much looking forward to going. Thanks for the suggestions.

outwestmom-that's cool. He had a good time!
