hey--just wondering, what grades do i have to keep making second semester to ensure that rice doesn't decide that it was a mistake to let me in early decision? any horror stories? any comforting words? thanks!

i'd say just keep trying a good bit, but don't work yourself to death

just dont make below a C...i think..

My roommate got a 69.7 or so in calculus his second semester senior year (and is very proud of that fact), and he's still here so I'd guess not a whole lot. Just keep them moderately high and focus on everything else you have to do (scholarships, financial aid, etc).

I'd say you want to keep learning well, because much of the intro stuff in college is high school repeated stuff with a little bit of development, so you want to make sure that you don't fall behind there.

I'm really worried that if I get B's in my physics and AP stats class for both semesters that they might rescind their decision. Do you think that I am just worrying too much???

Yes, you are definitely worrying too much. Don't sweat it.

You have to have your grades drop a really significant amount for a college to rescind admission. Don't worry about Bs, or even a couple of Cs.

from what I have heard from other college kids this sounds true. My friend went to Caltech and asked what grades he had to keep. Their answer was nothing below a C in math and science and just don't fail any English or history. Also a small liberal arts college in my home town (Colorado College) sent a rep to our school to do a talk about admissions and was telling us that the can recede your admission and then proceeded to tell us that last year for the first time ever they actually had to do this. Now this tells me one thing a ton of kids slack second semester senior year and if they had to do it once EVER then they would let it go quite far before rejecting your admissions. I can't say specifically for rice but those are my experiences

I agree. Something else that I think should be pointed out is that colleges want to make sure you don't have study hall all the time. You're still supposed to be taking the tough classes. While you don't have to be making straight A's, you should still be taking them. There are some other threads on CC about this and may be helpful to some of you.
