After reading "The Essential Content" for US History... Yikes!

Took a Barron's practice test. I got a 600, which is, quite frankly, not what I was hoping to achieve. My self-confidence just tanked!

Half of the stuff I saw in that book I simply guesstimated. I didn't take AP US History but most of the content in the Barron's book I didn't even remember reading about in "The Essential Content," which many forumers say is a very comprehensive way to prepare for the SAT II US History test. Does my history just suck, or is Barron's once again way harder than the actual test like it was for the normal SAT?

If so, can anybody recommend me a good book with practice tests that are closest to the actual thing? I am running out of time and really could use it... thanks alot!

Err well just saying, Barron’s is usually harder than the actual test, so don’t be discouraged if you do badly c: a 650 in Barron’s on math equates to an 800 on the real test.

If Barron’s isn’t working for you, try PR? Different books work for different people. You’re gonna have to study quite a bit since you didn’t take APUSH ><;

Try taking an official, released College Board SAT II USH test instead.

Barron’s is hard. I missed a massive number of questions on the two practice tests I took. But it doesn’t really matter; it’s not that the Barron’s tests are accurate indicators of the actual SAT II USH test.

PR SAT II USH tests are middling. When I took the tests, I could see how the author has at least tried to mimic the actual SAT II USH exam in terms of content and scope, which is more than what I can say about Barron’s. Still, some questions just scream “trivial pursuit!”

Sparknotes’ tests are good tests though. Not perfect, but worth taking.

Well just study a little more! It is deeply sading that you got a score you did not want, but guess what you can not give up because of that lol. But anyways try a Cliffnotes Us History book. Even if I never used a Cliff notes in US History, I sure used one for Biology because i do not have a certain acumen for the subject. I have to say did help me for my Biology regents :).

On CC overall most people recommend Kaplan. I’ve never used it but my friends have used it with good results.

the one book I can attest to that is really bad is REA. REA USH has a load of useless BS that wasn’t covered on May’s SAT2. + 6 practice tests that I got like 710 on each time, missing like 20 each time. Real test? Cruising to an 800.

^Really? I thought REA was really good. They give you random facts that the SAT II tests you on, and they also give you main ideas.

So if I’m reliably getting 750+ on Sparknotes tests, is that an reasonably accurate reflection of how well I’ll do on the actual test?
