i looked at my status page today and i realized that im only being considered for tepper. i think i didn't check off the other colleges i was interested in... i haven't received anything prollly meaning im rejected... what can i do now?!?! i was interested in CIT. does carnegie have an appeal process?? can they reconsider my admission in any way?

actually, i was thinking of writing an appeal too. hmm we'll see.

can we appeal?

CMU doesn't like to publicize it and neither do most universities (because of fear that more and more students would appeals) but I think it is possible to appeal because almost every other university has some kind of appeals process (that they usually keep hidden or non-spoken).

I would ask the HUB or even call the Dean of Admissions directly (if you're already rejected you have nothing to lose by calling). You never know what will happen because in case this year's applicants do not matriculate to CMU (they might have a lot of spaces open and reconsider your app).

Hey, i tried appealing back when ED decisions were out, but it didn't work for me despite phone calls and numerous emails. they really didn't want me. but perhaps it will work for you~ email an admissions rep, maybe he/she will take a quick glance at your file and go "hmmmm..."

wow. that is rather discouraging. why didn't you reapply for regular decision?

i didn't think iw as allowed to. plus, my rejection letter said they wont be reconsidering me next spring either...haha major letdown. but please dont let my experience discourage you. ALWAYS try. maybe you did really well at an interview, and maybe the rep will remember you.

i really think they didn't give me a 2nd look becasue they weren't impressed with my stats. after all, i had a 3.0gpa...nearly impossible to get in with that. I hope it will go well for you! try!

which school did you originally apply for? i got rejected from tepper; they said i wouldn't be considered for it later on, but that i could apply to a different school within cmu if i chose to.

I'm very sorry that happened to you. Not to discourage you or be mean but I agree that a 3.0 appeal will probably not get in no matter how hard you lobbied (unless you had huge problems like a rising trend and then really high SAT scores).

Remember that you can always go to another university, get good grades, and transfer into CMU! Good luck.

exactly! yeah, i've faced reality. i applied to tepper so .....ahaha yeah, 3.0, tepper, you see where this conversation is going. i was just very frustrated by the process, though; i decided to switch to H&SS and they never switched it, denied me under tepper, and wouldn't give me a 2nd look--probably because they saw whoa, 3.0. no way. when i called, they switched it a day before my rejection letter was drafted. so clearly, they never reconsidered me ... oh well! work hard in the fall and will consider transferring later!

that's such a letdown...but, good luck to you wherever go.
