Hi everyone! I’m currently a senior in highschool from the US. My parents and a lot of family members suggest that I study at aga khan med school because it’s done faster and there is no MCAT standing in ur way in order to get into med school. I visited aga khan recently and they gave me there brochure. I’m very confused because they have different categories in the brochure for applicants overseas and applicants from American/Canadian highschool system. The overseas category says it needs the SATll scores (550 or above) for math or physics, bio, and Chem but the American and Canadian side says it need a score minimum of 650. Then there is ANOTHER category saying “applicants overseas and highschool level” which talks about the SAT l and how u need a 1250. I’m very confused as to which one I should follow so pls if you have an idea or know someone applying or has already applied pls let me know! Plus, if there are any foreign aku applicants or people who know more about aku feel free to ask questions and even share some tips and info on how to get in or your experience at aku!! TIA
You need to contact the admission office and ask them for clarification.
Where do you want to practice medicine? If you want to do that in the US, you need to verify the pass rate for the foreign medical exams, and placement statistics for medical residency programs here.
If you want to practice medicine in the US, you ought to attend a US undergraduate. It was difficult before if you hadn’t, and it’s going to be virtually impossible due to new rules. I suppose you could do your medical studies at AKU, work for a few years, then start taking the STEPs and other exams but it means you couldn’t work in the US as a doctor till 2032 or so. If you’re an American, it sounds a bit drastic, unless you love and know Karachi.
