ALL MY CLASSES ARE BEING WAITLISTED!

Hi, I’m going to be a freshmen at ucsd erc. I signed up for mmw 11 with dubois and I’m number 3 on the waitlist for my LE and DI time that I want. The only one left is Jordan but I really don’t want to take his class. I haven’t heard many positive things. For a poli sci class I’m 1st, and for a quantative skills ge, I’m waitlisted at number 4 for PHIL 10. I’m really scared of not being able to get into these classes because they’re all GE’s. I don’t want to get held back and I also don’t want to have to deal with a bad teacher and not end up learning anything in the class. What is your guys experience with waitlists. Do students very commonly end up getting the classes they want or no? Also, based on my number in line for these classes, do you think I have a good chance or not at all?

UPDATE: Pleaseee helpppp!!!

If you are in the top 5 of the waitlist, you have a good chance of getting the classes. Hope everything works out.

Sometimes, in college, you have to compromise.

Take the classes that are not at the best times to, at least, have something before those classes fill up. You are not the only one searching for classes.

Use the 10% rule for waitlists, so if a class has 100 seats, then you should get in if you’re #10 or below. Doesn’t apply for labs and writing courses since ppl dont drop those, so i HIGHLY recommend switching your writing course so that you aren’t waitlisted. Also, you can enroll in some backup classes along with the waitlists, and then just drop the backup classes if you get off the waitlist. If you’re getting financial aid, u need to be enrolled in 12 units to be considered a fulltime student and qualify for finaid.
