All Transfer Students

lol instant messaging

Too high tech for me :-)

i need to talk to you though...msn, email, how can i get ahold of you?

i found out that i was accepted to tulane, stanford, usc, vanderbilt, and notre dame...i didnt get into my dream school which was harvard though...i will be attending tulane due to the history, prestige, gorgeous campus and perfect location, the scholarship i was given doesn't hurt either :) ...by the way, tulane is definitely regarded as one of the top schools in the south.

^^Congrats!! I hope to see you (and the rest of you) in the fall.

I think higherlead's aim is pretty clear.

yea i wonder why he is saything things like this..he probably got rejected from tulane or something

dude, not to sound like a jerk, but i sort of think its funny that in almost every post you've had since getting into tulane, you mention how its one of the top 5 schools in the south...haha think you might be trying to boost its image in your own mind a little?

of course, I tend to think that there are several other good schools in the south (like those listed) and, in reality, the education you recieve from one may not be THAT much different from one to the other, besides the supposed prestige difference, and that only matters when one is trying to impress (omg i went to Duke that means im special lol!!!111). The thing I think that makes Tulane good is that it combines competitive academic offerings with a good social experience...so the school is well rounded, which I personally think can be a little more important than the actual straight up information you learn in class...

i go to wake right now tho, so my opinion my be skewed a bit

did you not get into tulane or something? i do think its one of the top 5 in the south...yes the campus is gorgeous and its the highest rated academic/social school in the country, its the smartest kids who want to party also

no i got in...and i'm probably going, so i wasn't trying to knock it at all....but saying its "the best" or even "top five" is misleading i think, because besides the fact that there are several comparable if not better academic schools in the south when it comes to prestige(my opinion at least), but also because, when you think about it, what do ranking even really mean? I mean, how much of a difference between the top 20 schools or so do you really think there is? I'm just sayin that I think yea its definatly a well rounded educational opportunity...but things like "its the best social/academic school in the country" is just an opinion, even if US news, etc. say otherwise

i feel like it is, and many will agree and others may disagree...but what were your h.s. and college stats? any scholarship?

haha wow persistant....i already posted them, you know, the first time you asked at the begining of this thread...and haven't heard bout scholarships yet, but then again i haven't been able to check my mail in a while so we'll see

why are you so negative about the school if you want to transfer there so badly?

Hey now, relax. Remember that it doesn't matter whether Tulane's the best social/academic or a one in five southern or even top fifty. What matters is whether it's the rigt place for you. If a school that offers excellent academics (and as an academic I can tell you that you make much of that via your own choices no matter where you are), an American/European city to live in, and from what my son has seen an accepting and happy student body as well as an administration that really cares about the safety of its students sounds good to you, then you need to be serious about Tulane and hope they're serious about you. Worry about what you'll do once you get there--or wherever.

why are you so negative about the school if you want to transfer there so badly?

How is he being negative?

I myself am not negative on the school. I am negative on the direction the current inept leadership is taking the school and I am apparently more aware of the competetive environment in which the school operates than people who claim it is one of the top five schools in the South.

Tulane has a lot of good things going for it, but unfortunately the number is declining not increasing. I have zero confidence that the current administration has either the will or insight or determination or leadership to change that situation. They much prefer to blame their problems on external sources like bad press, scared parents, NOLA crime, underperforming faculty, cumbersome administrative rules and structures - anything except their own incompetentcies. The problem is compounded by a disengaged Board that allows itself to be bullied about.

hes saying there own alumnae are suing them, that they are going to drop in the ranks, that no schools ranked above them didnt cut their phd's in economics and english, and didnt cut the majority of their engineering programs...can you not read?

Of course I can read, I'm talking about Tayshodd, not higherlead.

i don't think anyone here really came here to knock tulane, and i appoligize for commenting on your arguement, its your opinion, so whatever thats cool....everyone is entitled to them, especially on an anonymous internet forum.

haha i would hate to get this topic deleted or something cuz we couldnt agree on how good the school is...

by saying that its misleading to claim its one of the best 5 schools in the south, because i think it is one of the best 5 in the south
