@wcwei: Wow, you had a pretty good stat, what was your first and second choice?

I wonder if they really care about how we rank the college, since your stat could be able to get in first choice (I guess?).

@kan9160

my first and second are Muir and Warren.
My friend had 3.9x. Her first is Muir and second is Marshall. And she only got into marshall also.

If you’re a social science major, just make sure it’s not ERC/Revelle and you’re fine.

@grimes99

You’re graduating this year?

@zamboni: Yup. In and out in one year. Ballin’ haha. Although to be fair, I did take 3 summer classes before starting last year and I’ll take one this year. So… 4 summer classes + 3 quarters = graduating.

Nice! Congrats! Makes me feel lazzzzzy though for taking the full two years.

Haha I came in with the goal of finishing in a year so I had to stick with it.

grimes, your major is?

@UCkittychen: Political science with an international relations focus.

I was just reviewing my UC app and the choices I put down to rank the colleges were: 1. Muir, 2. Revelle (supposedly one of the hardest), and 3. Warren. After looking at the GE requirements for all the colleges, for my major which is Molecular Biology, Revelle probably has the easiest GE requirements. For anyone worrying about what colleges they chose/were admitted to, remember it’s all relative. For Revelle most of the pre-reqs are science/math courses, so if you’re applying as a science/engineering/math major you complete a lot of the GE’s, except the language requirement (one extra semester) with your pre-reqs and if not with your upper division courses.

Now I’m kind of hoping I get into Revelle instead of Muir or Warren as I should only have to take one extra class instead of two at Muir and three at Warren. Although I’m not sure what’s going to be worse – taking another semester of a foreign language after not having remotely used Spanish since high school or taking the writing/diversity of US cultures requirement for Muir? I’m really not a big fan of foreign language, writing (I was so happy after finishing the second semester of English), or social science classes, I guess that’s why I’m a science major lol.

I got into revelle it was my first choice I don’t know what I was thinking when I chose it I’m a psych major!
I would trade you spots if I could believe me!

^That might be possible actually. Granted this post is about 3 years old, someone in this thread mentioned they found somewhere on TritonLink where it suggested it was possible to switch if you found someone in a different one of the six colleges that wanted to switch into your college. It’s post #5.

The UCSD website doesn’t make mention of this though, so I’m not sure how reliable it is.

Here’s also the actual form that you might want to familiarize yourself with if you do choose to try to transfer colleges.

So, what’s the problem with Eleanor Roosevelt? Can you let me ‘in’ on the joke or ranking of this particular college? D was accepted there, as well as other top 20 colleges… want to make sure we make the right choice what’s the good and the bad???

I’m a psyc major too and for some reason I am unsure of, picked revelle as my 2nd and got in. I’m going to make the most out of it though because when I realized what I had done I wasn’t as excited anymore. Haha.

I’m pretty sure I won’t be attending so if I could give away my spot like that it’d be easier than trying to switch.

Is it possible to trade spots at a college with another admitted applicant? Even if that applicant does not plan on attending UCSD?

how reputable is ucsd’s econ program? like for management science etc

Each colleges have their own unique backgrounds. It is very possible to change between different colleges if you request it but it can be a tad difficult. The “easiest” college to go to would probably be Muir than Marshall. “Easiest” meaning that you won’t be be bogged down by too many class requirements each college requires you to take, therefore you can focus more on your major classes.

I thought Revelle was suppose to be a pain in the butt because they didn’t accept IGETC for GE’s?

Revelle’s all right, I go to UCSD right now and am in Revelle. IGETC takes care of the 5 humanities classes you would otherwise have to take. However, IGETC does not take care of the other science/math classes you need. So when you get there you need to take:

At least one calc class, if you have already not taken one at CC.
One bio class
One chem class
I forgot the rules with physics classes.

But these classes are all pretty straightforward intro classes and should actually help boost your GPA. This is actually good because if you’re a transfer you probably have already finished all your GE’s and these GE classes are what boosts your GPA, for me at least anyways. So these extra science classes should help out your cumulative GPA for a bit until you’re done and move onto upper divs…
