If there's anyone out there who was admitted into Warren College but would be interested in instead going to Sixth College, please contact collegechange@ad.ucsd.edu and ask for the change. (Include your name and User ID or whatever info they need to ID you along with a reason, BEFORE submitting your SIR).

Or if you got into Warren but don't want to attend UCSD, please send the change request! I really want to go to Warren, and this would help out big time.

There are benefits of going to Sixth too. At Warren, you are required to take at least 3 upper division courses that are noncontiguous to your major. At Sixth, they don't have this requirement. The only thing is that you have to do a Practicum project or course and the Practicum writing component (CAT 125). I just don't want to do that and would rather take the 3 noncontiguous courses.

Why don’t you want to attend Sixth? It takes IGETC (unlike ERC and Revelle)… You need to have a very good reason for switching colleges. Will going to Sixth hinder you from graduating on time?

Before submitting your SIR, you don’t need a very good reason, just a reason, and if someone wants to switch from your college to the college you want, they are willing to swap. A class I’m already planning to take will satisfy the practicum, but due to prerequisites I won’t be able to take it until Winter '13. And since I would have to do CAT 125 (which is not always easy to get in to for the term you want due to high demand) after that, it is very possible that it would hinder my graduating time. I wouldn’t have that problem with Warren since I wouldn’t have to do the practicum.

So… If anyone got into Warren and is willing to go to Sixth, or if anyone got into Warren and doesn’t want to go to UCSD, sending the change request would be great.

Also, now that I think about it, if ANYONE got into Warren, Marshall, or Sixth, but isn’t going to UCSD, if you submit a change request to go to Revelle, ERC, or Muir, I’m sure there are some people out there who would be very thankful.

There is a significant differences between the colleges (and I’m talking about for TAG/IGETC transfers to UCSD, what they have to do after they transfer):

Sixth College transfers must:
Have at least 60 upper-division units, including the Practicum project/course and CAT 125

Roosevelt transfers must:
Take three quarters of Making of the Modern World.

Warren transfers must:
Take three upper-division courses that are noncontiguous to your major

Marshall transfers must:
Complete 60 upper division units, including 2 four-unit upper div. courses that are noncontiguous to your major. (Might also be some writing requirement but I’m not sure…)

Muir transfers must:
Complete 18 four-unit upper division courses (72 units), one cultural diversity course, and one writing course.

Revelle transfers must:
Complete a language proficiency exam, three courses noncontiguous to your major, maybe other stuff. They don’t accept IGETC so you have to check their website for the GE requirements.

They just contacted me again. They said, “It does not make a difference whether or not you submit your SIR in order to process your College Change request.” So I guess I was wrong, I must have been reading something old that said to make the request before doing the SIR.
