All who have an appointment or LOA+nomination post here.

Ok, I've seen a ton of threads around with "LOA+nom, yay!" or "I got in!"

Just thought it might be nice for everyone who knows for sure they're going (they have an appointment or LOA+nomination) to post here. Just post your name and a bit about yourself, so we can all get to know our classmates.

If you've also gotten into one of the other academies, let us know too!

I got LOA's from West Point and the Air Force Academy, and nominations to both. Can't believe God gave me so much.

I'm still undecided, but leaning Air Force. Training hard and praying hard. Look forward to seeing some of you there!

Brian

Male, 18, currently attending a civilian university, did not not apply in high school and completely regret that decision.

I received an LOA in November, and my rpresentiteive (Peter T. King, NY-03) sent my nomination last Monday (Dec. 18-05).

I hope my appointment is a few weeks away.

Best of luck to everyone!!

another one of these?...

Male, 20. Accepted appointment in November. Planning on playing Rugby. Loves: Chocolate, Girls, Will Ferrell. West Coaster... :(

hey y'all- congrats! i'm megan, live in houston, have an loa and nomination from senator. WP is my first choice, and i did not apply to any other service academies. i'm in to UT and A&M, but don't really want to go there :)

About me:
love running, reading, jumping on my trampoline, listening to music, gymnastics and cheerleading; cheerleading captain at high school, polevaulter on track team, cross country (pretty much only to stay in shape though, because i'm not fast enough to be competitive); girl scout. love traveling, cold weather, etc. looking forward to meeting everyone!

Good thing you like cold weather! You'll get plenty of that. Congrats and good luck!

mrgreenapple - Are you a rugby player? I haven't noticed too many on these boards. My son walked away from football to play rugby and has never regretted it. USMA has a great team - currently #5 in the nation. Good luck!

went from soccer and wrestling in hs to rugby at oregon state university. I love it and hopefully can get a spot on one of the sides. Must have been nice going from a really bad football team to a really great rugby club :)

Sorry I wasn't clear - son isn't at USMA. He's still in HS and plays for a men's div II side as well as our state U19 select side. I hope he plays for the Zoomies at AFA next year. You're right though - Army might have a better rugby team than football team at this point.

i was lucky enough to practice a little with the Army rugby team when I went up for my visit in November. I mentioned to someone that I played abd the coach outfitted me and I got to practice. Their team is incredibly tight and disciplined. The rugby team is pretty hard to get on but the guys are a lot of fun.

they have 4 sides so I'm sure there's space for people of all skill levels

True, but in the spring over half the team is cut and only a fraction of the people who try out make the team to begin with. mrgreenapple, I was told that rugby tryouts are AFTER cbt so don't get worried when you don't see them out there with all of the other teams in the summer. And the rugby team is getting a new stadium and new practice field.

yeah, I read the article on the new facility. It sounds amazing.

I wonder if the cut is just from the strain being on the team puts on cadets. I know my wrestling team in HS had a 50% loss every year.

The spring cut is made by the coaches. They want only the A side and a few extras practicing in spring from what I understand. The new facitilities will be awesome. As far as getting on, if you have prior rugby experience, it shouldn't be that hard. Plebes are given priority over upperclassman as far as getting on the team. Sounds like you are in a very good position to make it mrgreenapple. I'm sure I will get to know you in 8 months. I still don't know if I'll play, it's a very big commitment and I don't want my grades to hurt at all, plus I don't want to get my posterior kicked by those beasts I saw in November. I'd love to get on that National Championship Rifle squad though.

I played one year before the army but that was a while ago. I'm thinkin maybe I should join a club around here till this summer to catch up. I'm still considering other things like wrestling and soccer... meh i don't know.

Does anyone know if cadets conduct PT besides the sports theyre involved in???

Not in the academic year unless it is on their own. But there are PE classes that are required up until firstie year. Somone correct me if I am wrong. The PE classes are hard from what I gathered on my visit, but I would love to have m4m give us the scoop.

Has anyone recieved an offer of appointment that does not have an LOA yet?

i didnt have an loa

brownjklm,

This is the exact time of year when we went crazy last year. Our daughter did not have an loa. She received her nomination just before the holidays. We stared at the mailbox trying to will an appointment into it. Then on January 14 the appointment arrived. She did not receive a call from anyone telling her it was coming so it was a complete surprise.

momoftwins, you're my hero right now.

:o I'm blushing. You have it wrong, hornet. All of you kids (mids, cadets, coasties) are my heroes!
