All who have either appointments or LOA+nomination combo post here

I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but in general, how long did it take from when you were notified of your nomination to get your actual appointments at your houses? I need to know roughly when it is going to get to me because I have some important decisions to make right when I get it, and I'd like to get it as soon as possible. I just got the letter from my congressman yesterday (he waited until January 31st to notify the Academy), when would you estimate that I get my appointment?

Don't go with your gut!! There are A LOT of differences between the army and the air force. The army is more manpower-based (more focus on humanities) while the air force is more technologically (more focus on science) based. Your future career depends singinifcantly on which branch of service. Check out Military.com:

i never got an LOA. i had a presidential nom since july and just got it today. sorry that doesnt really help.

I got my appointment letter last week. I'm not postive if i'm going to the AFA yet... I got a LOA from the Naval Aademy.

haha

I meant your gut reaction to which branch you wanted to be in, not your gut about the academy.

umm, i dont have a appointment or anythig like that, can i still post? i wanna learn more about the AFA apllication procees

Is there any list online to read about everyone that were accepted applicants to USAFA or USNA ? I was just wondering because I was curious to see the amount of people already accepted... And how many spots are open for appointments to the USAFA?

FF -- the problem is that these threads get started and then get "contaminated" by people going off on tangents. I'm afraid it just happens and is a function of the way people comment on boards. Feel free to try again by starting a new thread!

c/falcon: ask away! But check other threads in this forum which already have a ton of information in them. But this is a group who is really willing to help out. I'm presuming you're currently a junior --which is a great time to start asking!

c/falcon -- actually I see now that you're probably a freshman or sophomore -- but it's still a good time to ask.

nope, lol, ima freshman i seriously considering going to the academy

let me introduce myself, well, ima freshman, im cadet staff sarg in Air force Junior ROTC, im currently in that club while on the drill team and in the senior chorous, i hold leadership positions in all of them, i was commander of the falcon new cadet sqad basic(a winning team). and im second in command to my section in my squadron, i wake up at 0500 to go to drill practice from 0630 to 0800 then i have classes from 0800 to 1530, after that i go to ROTC and do cadet crorps work, i usually go home around 1800 or 1900 on busy days, then i have a ton load of hw and corps work and i still need to study because i want to maintian my 3.8 average. i usually go to sleep at 2400. usually i dont get not even 4 hours of sleep, i wanted to be in the football team, but i coudnt handle the stress. im goin to join next year and this time im not gonna quit

Looks like you're preparing yourself well and giving yourself a really good chance of getting into the Academy in a few years. Keep up the hard work, do your best on the football team, and you should have no problem impressing the Admissions board.

thank you patriot

what exactly is the pre-candidate questionere? i know its a question or a test of some sort designed to weed out those people that do not have any chance of getting into the acadmey.

Yea I'm curious too as to what the pre-candidate questionere is... I received something talking about it in the mail.. So i'm a little curious as to like what the point is or if they have had it before?

Name: ....sorry
State: VA

Appointment offered

FINALLY! They updated the website confirming that they recieved my nomination (took them a month). Hopefully the appointment will be in the mail now

is it better to apply to the academy by mail or the internet?

I think it's better by mail... but that's just me. I felt really organized with the application right in my hands. Some people find the internet to be better because it's all in one place. But for me, I liked actually having it in my hands.
