The first day to register for transfers is Aug 26th but when I went online to look at the list of classes just about everyone I need is already full. What the hell, I thought we had priority as transfers and how could everything be so full already?? Doesn't make any sense.

At UCSD, what they do is they open spots for Transfers, and the regular students who are still waitlisted still have to wait. Hopefully its like that at your college also.

Similar to ^^^

At UCSC, transfers registered on the 22nd of July. Most of the classes were full on the 21st, but a ton of space was created the next day for transfers.

what UC are you attending?

UCR. I spoke to some lady through email and I am getting the impression there is no “reserve” set up for transfers. This is really stupid and makes no sense at all, how can they expect any transfer student to get the classes they need if registration started for everyone else literally in May? And it’s really cute because the emails for the Orientation on the 31st keep saying garbage like “You’ll be able to find out what classes you need and register for them here!”.

Are all classes closed or just ones you need or want to take? You may have to take whatever classes are available, even if you have no interest in them, for a semester and hopefully you will get a better registration time for next semester and can then register for classes that you really want.

I can see a situation where there would be no classes in anything available at a community college where they have no admission standards and accept everyone that applies but at a UC or CSU, which do have control over the number of students they admit, they should have at least 12 units of something available for every student they have enrolled for each semester.
