Alright II.

So I have this clingy friend I'm trying to gradually flee from. She has asked me to hang out more times than I can count on my fingers. Every time, I make up an excuse. So you'd think that she'd get the hint by now. :)

Maybe your excuses are too good. Make them more obvious excuses. For example, "I can't make it because I have to take a shower." That was probably a bad example but I hope I got my point across. :)

But really, if you really don't like her why don't you just say it? "Look, this friendship between you and I isn't going to work out if you keep on being so clingy. I really do appreciate your passion towards me but can you give me some more room?"

"I'm not a lesbian."

Actually, that sounds like a really good example.

I'm in an identical situation! Just tell them you simply don't want to hang out. You want "alone time." Tell them you've vowed to become a hermit, and then make sure they don't spot you at social gatherings.

-If you don't care to ever talk to her again, and don't care about being a *****, flake out on her several times after planning to hang out--just don't show up.

-Or even better yet, while on the phone with her, pretend that you have a call on the other line and tell her to hang on for a second. After you 'switch lines,' talk as though you are telling someone on the other line how annoying and clingy friend #1 is. She'll hear it all and think that you 'accidentally messed up' when switching lines. Eventually she'll say something and, problem solved!

-Maybe throw a brick through her window with a note attached? I've always found that one to work.

A last-ditch effort would be to simply always say, "I'm not really in the mood for hanging out, I think I'm going to sleep." If eventually you find yourself hanging out, make it as boring and uninteresting as possible. Also, "forget" to call her back or answer for a day or so.
Keep in mind, the top three are usually most effective.

Stop taking her calls. Duh.
