Alternate Majors Pre Reqs

Do Uc’s look at pre reqs for alternate majors? There are literally no majors that have the same pre reqs so how would we get accepted for our alternate majors? For example, my major is Computer Science, but I am not sure what to put for my alternate major because I only have the pre reqs for Computer Science. I was thinking of putting Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering as my alternate, but would I even get accepted for either if I’ve only taken pre reqs for Computer Science?

Always better to put the easier one as the second. But either way req. must be completed for both as per assist.

But I’ve read from that we should put a major in a different school from our own. For example, if my primary major is Engineering, I should put Liberal Arts or Psychology. i.e. put a non-impacted major if your first major is impacted. How do we meet the pre reqs for our alt. major if its from a completely different school?

I have read on college confidential that engineer and cs major have gotten into their alt majors like math and humanities. Does that mean they had those pre reqs as well?

Yes, you need the pre-reqs as set out on assist. Why are they giving YOU a break and letting you into a major without pre-reqs completed when everyone else has to complete them? So you need to pick an alternate without many req, or stay longer at the CCC or load up on courses in each term.

You don’t need to repost this and ask again, hoping you’ll get an answer you like. Those are the rules. Sorry.

Prerequisites for a CS major may overlap with the prerequisites for other majors (e.g. math or statistics). So it may not require too many extra courses to complete the prerequisites for those other majors. In addition, courses taken for general education or IGETC purposes may overlap with prerequisites for other majors.
