Alumni Contact after Acceptance Letter

I just got contacted by an alumni asking if I had any questions about the university (ie. quality of life). I was accepted EA. What does this email indicate/is it typical for alumni to reach out to accepted students? Thank you in advance.

Yes, it is typical. The email means that the school (actually, the interviewer) wants to give you every possibility to favor them when you decide where to enroll. If you have any questions or doubts, they want you to know that they are there to help you through the process and make sure you have all the information to make an informed opinion. Nothing to view with suspicion- just a supportive email.

Thank you for your response!

The year my daughter was admitted, the alum who contacted her told her about a local alumni scholarship that she would not have otherwise known about. She ended up receiving the scholarship, which was worth $5,000.

I was admitted literally a day after alumni interview. Couldn’t be possible that they factored that interview for my admission decision. It’s more for informational purposes.
