I was wondering what the chances are of receiving this...is it relatively easy to get the 4000? The only reason I ask is because I just started the essays this week after receiving the phone call and I am SUPER stressed about it now...I can't think of anything to write about that won't sound cliche (ie: the teenager's challenge topic...drugs? sex? drinking? how boring) and im wondering if its worth it..well i guess thats not even a question now cause ive already done an essay and filled out the app, haha.

yeah yeah you dont have to share ur essays with me but it might be nice to have some ideas to inspire me or something...any responses appreciated..

the UCLA scholarship has been stressing me out a lot this week because the essay topics are kinda strange... im not sure if i want to go through with because only like 200 people get the scholarship and nearly 55,000 (i think) people have applied to UCLA so my chances are kinda low

yeah ugh. my parnets say its just about the experience, not really to win or anything. yeah, its a GREAT experience stressing over 3 essays in about 3 days time, haha. i know my friend got it last year to berkeley, so I guess it's not impossible..i just dont really know who im up against and how good this has to be.

As a consolation, I do understand how you feel. Essay writing, particularly when write about yourself, can be particularly difficult. Each person has a time of a day which they can write best; mine is at night, and I find it as a pleasant way to end the day and de-stress.

The stress attributed to the scholarship is the result of the lack of time; if you had started earlier, you would not be as stressful now. I started the application two, maybe two and a half weeks ago, and sent it out last Tuesday, receiving my confirmation of receipt yesterday. Personally, I have plenty to do and having to write a last minute scholarship would have been terribly stressful on me and I decided to finish it earlier.

Perhaps this is one of those life lessons: knowing your own stress levels and gauging when to do things.

trust me, not many people apply! they either dont know about it or are too lazy. dont be one of those people!
