Am I crazy for taking this many APs?

Hey I’m taking 5 AP classes my senior year as well! Mine are: Calc AB, Euro, Lit, Gov&Econ, and Bio.

Go for it if you feel you can do it. That schedule looks like my junior year schedule except that I had Physics B and instead of Stats I had World History. It’s not a difficult schedule to manage once you get into the school year.

took 5 my junior year (with all 5s most likely): calc AB, lang and comp., psych, history, and bio.
taking 7 next year: gov, calc BC, lit and comp, physics B, stat, physics C E and M, chem.

plus I’m in Marching band, I play soccer, swim and play tennis. And I also work part time, and I am almost an Eagle Scout. It is possible, you can do it.

^^ Do you ever have to pull all nighters? I’m not planning to take those any AP’s but I always felt like the bad sleeping/health habits could badly affect you in sports.

@callmeC, the one tip I can give you for being really busy is to not get stressed. The less stressed you are, the easier life will be. Luckily, all the things I do do not fall on top of each other. Band/soccer in fall, swimming in winter, tennis in spring, so I really only had to deal with one thing (along with school) at a time. Just realize that everything you have to do will get done, and don’t get stressed out about it. Plus, staying up late isn’t that bad (I was usually up 'til about 1 or 2 on most nights, with some nights being up later, others earlier; I actually never pulled an all nighter, the worst I did was get only an hour of sleep a couple times). It’s not that bad, trust me!

That seems doable – study for the Calc BC exam though. It’s definitely worth it.

I’ve heard stats isn’t bad, and AP Gov is so easy it’s a joke. You’ll be fine.

You aren’t crazy, but a bit naive I think. Take the AP courses you are interested in, because all that free knowledge will go down the drain come the third week of may.

I feel like this whole thread became a dick measuring contest.

Nah its easy dude. Freshman year I took 8 APs, self studied 6 of them.
Sophmore year I didn’t take any.
Junior year I took 15 Aps, self studied 8 of em, I got a 2 on 7 of em and 3 on the rest.
Plus im the captain of the swim team, volleyball, cricket team, chess team, football team, tennis team, and navy.

Trust me its doable.

…and dragooner4 has activated ■■■■■ mode once again!

I agree Keiran. I wonder what their social lives are like in real life (and I am not talking about them not being able to fit in a social life because of ALL the AP classes they are taking).

Trolls be trolling…

I took 6 (one self studied) and calculus 3 at UIUC… And wish I took another. Challenge yourself. I still had a social life and I’m a 2 sport varsity athlete. Some nights will suck but it’s worth it.

None of my credits will transfer to complete gen eds… Yet I still think it was worth while.

Some schools don’t even offer 5 AP courses. My son is taking three junior year, and could have taken five, but his school is very much against taking more than three AP courses in a year.

If you can handle it, it’s not an issue. It’s just like an honors class with more targeted curriculum. But if your school is making it into a “super class” including extra class trips and projects (not all do), that could be an issue.

Come on guys let’s give Dragooner some credit here. At least he actually the courtesy to add up his numbers to make sure they’re 23 which is all the APs(excluding the languages and several arts).

Or he is just mocking everyone else bragging about their status.

I did the following my senior year:
Calculus BC, US Government, Macroeconomics, Spanish Literature, Chemistry, Literature, Physics C: Mechanics, Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism, with the two physics being self-studies. Add that to college apps and an annoying SAT Physics to get out of the way. I was able to pull it off with a medium-to-lacking social life and 7 hours of sleep daily. So if you’re up for that kind of work-load, go for it, I say. It’s not easy, and you might start getting chronic headaches around April, but at least you’ll learn a lot. :P

5 ap’s is no problem. usually you will have one of those classes being a blowoff haha, and in your case i bet it will be gov or stats depending on your school’s program.

We’re on a trimester schedule with five classes per trimester. Half of our AP classes are only offered at one time during the year (some more obscure ones like Euro don’t always run) so it’s really hard to fit in more than three AP classes per year. With music (year round) and the required classes, it can even be challenging to fit in 3. I see people taking 5+ AP classes per year and I worry so much! I guess I’ll have to get my counselor to explain the situation at my school, so I don’t look like I’m lazy (since we have ~15 AP classes offered).

Taking 4 AP classes senior year.

AP Japanese
AP Literature
AP Bio
AP Economics (Macro)

Thinking of self studying psych and one other AP. I already took AP US and AP Environmental. Any suggestions? I can’t do math though.
