My school has the same 3 AP class limit. I did manage to get around it though ;)

I would do AP U.S Government as you already have a solid foundation in APUSH. APUSH helps a lot with U.S Government especially in terms of constitutional underpinnings and amendments etc.

Checked out some AP Gov questions and you’re right, I can probably handle that. Thanks.

You’re asking a bunch of crazied-out AP kids if you’re crazy.

That takes a lot of hard work.

Its not unheard of but it still very admirable.

Wow. The schools you guys go to must not like AP classes. My school offers all of them except Italian and Japanese, and people usually take upwards of 15 - 20 classes.

Not at all! Just make sure you enjoy it! Physics C and Calculus are like art. You must submerge yourself to do beautifully. (:
Power to you!

Took 6 APs last year as a junior, and have 5 coming up the next year. I guess it depends on your school, because I was fairly able to handle all of them, while I heard that at another school in the district people were dying over 3.

To many APs really depends. In my school, if you’re taking more than 3 APs you have to talk to your guidance counselor and your parents have to sign off on it. It all really depends.

Yea I think that’s normal too.
In fact, I know one girl who have taken 18 APs and gonna take 6 next year( cuz she goes to a private school for extremely smart children)
And even I, myself extemly stupid kid, take 5 APs next year as a junior.

anything more than 4 is crazy and will lead to health problems later on in life

^ agreed seriously once you get into college, you’re going to regret taking that many

I know a student who took three and felt it was too heavy a load.

I agree. It is not worth the pressure.

I’d say enough is enough at 4 per year. You don’t want to burn yourself out before the real work starts, dude.

I’m taking four APs (Stats, Calc, Eng Lit, and Govt/Macro) and on top of that I’m taking Principles of Gen. Chem. (equivelant to AP Chem) at Cal State Mon-Thurs from 6-8pm and volunteering at the SPCA as well as dealing with college apps/essays. I don’t think it’s crazy, just doing what’s necessary to make it into a decent college.

It’s not impossible, but it is difficult. Last year, I also took 5 aps. I had to sneak around my schedule sign up sheet because some of the teachers at my school refuse to recommend you to an ap class if you have already been recommended for 4 aps.

There was a person in the class of 2012 that took 30 APs counting their entire high school career. There are also many people who took 10+ APs, counting self-studies.

A lot depends on if you have an edge. For example if you took calculus over the summer or know the language in which you are taking the AP, then you do not have to work as hard in some of them. My son took 5 APs, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, English Lang, US History with Honors Physics & Pre-Calculus in junior year. He did not have an edge in any of them. He earned one 4 and 5s on the rest. However, he thought the schedule did not leave him enough time to enjoy the subjects and explore the field.

Five I think are too many. If you think you’re able to handle it, go for it. I know I wouldn’t be able to, haha.

In my school, they suggest you take no more than three or four, depending on the type of student you are. Taking five APs each year is pretty impossible in my school. They don’t suggest self-study either, cause counselors want students to enjoy other school events, participate in teams, clubs, productions, etc. Basically they want you to be studious, but well-rounded and diverse in that aspect.

This year, I will be taking AP Lit and AP Gov. I took APUSH this year, but I failed the exam, unfortunately.

Good luck!

Jeeze, my school seems stupid. The average at my school is probably like 2.

I took 4 junior year, though, and am taking 5 senior year. Junior was not as bad as I thought it would be and senior year shouldn’t be hard either.

I think 5 is fine. Just school from 7:30 to 5:30… yeesh. Idk if I’d like that.
