Am I doing okay in high school as of right now?

I am a junior right now in high school, and I have been thinking a lot about college, meaning it is literally the thing that keeps me up at night. I’m a little worried about my grades and applying for college and I was hoping someone could help me see if I am doing all right. This has been my high school experience so far:

Freshmen year: All A’s both semesters. I was on the freshmen volleyball team and a part of the Interact Club at my school.

Sophomore year: First semester had one B in Honors PreCalculus. Second semester had 2 B’s in Spanish and Honors Chemistry. Took 1 AP (AP Euro) and 2 Honors classes. I was on the JV field hockey team, the Mock Trial team, Interact Club, and the Gathering club (youth group at my school).

Junior Year: (it is still first semester). I might get a B in AP Calculus, but if I don’t, then i would have solid A’s. Taking 4 AP’s (English, Calculus, Environmental science, and US History). I was on varsity field hockey. I am on the Mock Trial team, Interact Club, Gathering Club, and i am in journalism right now.

I am also in NCL (National Charity League).

The schools I want to apply to are: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. NYU, Berkeley, U Penn, and University of Chicago.

Anyone can give their input. Thank you so much

You are doing fine. Having 5 AP’s under your belt with hopefully solid AP test scores by the time you apply demonstrates sufficient “rigor” unless your school is crazy and everyone takes 15 AP courses. To get a better answer I’d need to know your PSAT test results and in a couple of months you should be taking SAT or ACT. Your un-weighted GPA is probably about 3.8 or so right? If you can get straight A’s this year and plan your summer carefully. Do you have any idea what you want to study in college or what career field interests you?

I am taking the SAT this weekend. My PSAT score was a 1730 and I took the ACT and got a 26. I will be retaking those too. I am planning on getting straight A’s, but will having 4 B’s look really bad if I do get a B in a class, mainly AP Calculus? I have been looking into journalism a lot and somewhat in business. And my unweighted would be around a 3.8 right now.

My final GPA for this semester is a 4.5. I got a B in AP Calculus.

For Cal Poly and NYU, you’re doing just fine. The others are extremely competitive, but if you study hard for standardized tests, you should be in good shape. Good luck!
