I saw a thread an hour ago, which stated that that guy's last sentence of the short answer about the significant activity in common app was cut off. I wondered if the same thing would happen to me, as I didn't see the print preview before submission, either. However, to my surprise, I found out that mine was also cut off--- the last word of my short answer was missing and the whole short answer now ends up with an "and"... Although the last word isn't very significant to the gist of my short answer, I still want to ask: Am I doomed? I just forgot to see the print preview because my short answer didn't exceed the 1000-character limit. Is this situation common and AO of Penn will understand that, or will AO throw my application away without a second thought because they might think I am not serious enough (though I was extremely serious and just forgot to see the print preview)? I'm totally freaked out!! HELP!

I don’t think you’re doomed - it happens all the time - not that it’s a good thing but I can’t imagine you’re going to be accepted/denied based on ONE word missing from your essay. But since you are so worried, why don’t you send admissions a brief email stating that you just notice the error and the last word is “xxxxx.”

Thank you very much! However, will sending AO an email and explaining this whole thing cause even more trouble, as this ONE word is not really crucial and my materials must have been reviewed by far? Will admissions think I’m just being careless and hate me even more for making them pick out my folder again?

You’re ok. They must understand that kids are not very experienced filling out apps and one shot at getting it perfect may be asking a bit much.

Thank you very much. I guess I’ll stop worrying about that, or at least less constantly…

As long as the meaning isn’t clouded, they won’t care at all. They read through too many apps and read way too quickly to even notice it most of the time.
