Well I screwed up in HS and boy do I regret it every single time I take a breath.. I ended up with a 3.3 gpa and a 1200 math/reading SAT score.. I barely tried at all. It was a joke to me til I realized college is coming my way at a fast pace. This was not until junior/senior year when I put in effort but still did not come through on the SATs because I bombed them.. Anyway I am now going to Baruch and planning to be a business major. I chose Baruch because it's cheap.. Little did I know you get what you paid for. I have yet to start at Baruch and already despise it! From what I hav heard everyone is from the boroughs of NYC and does not come from a strong family. So now I want to transfer after freshman/soph year. Whatever is required to get a good financial aid package from a top university. I will try my hardest to achieve a 4.0 gpa/strong ECs/research businesses/and an internship summer 2010 at a large firm. Cam you recommend to me some good schools where I can major in business that offer nice financial aid packages. Do you think I will be able to get in?I want to use binghamton as a backup because I think it should be easy to get into with my expected grades and stuff. Anyway please guys give me advice, I hate my life because I'm going to a crappy school.. I just wish I could e at harvard/Yale/Wharton atm.. Btw in terms of financial aid, my efc was 17k so whxh tip schools would give me good packages? Thanks

Whoaaaaa calm down! You aren’t going to get anywhere if you are on the fritz like this and dreaming of Ivy schools. First thing is first cool off - I know that college choices weren’t great for you, but it goes that way for a lotta people, just make do with what you have. Panicking is just going to make it worse.

You really need to focus more on developing your abilities before you even begin college, honestly, college is A LOT harder than High school. You need to seriously work your butt off to do well - are you ready for it? You need to develop a hard work ethic to get that 4.0 (BTW a 3.3 isn’t bad at all, and neither is a 1200 M+CR)!

People who get 4.0 GPAs are revered because they are so rare. You cannot jump from doing nothing to “working hard” to get the right ECs and grades to get you into college.

You haven’t started college yet I assume. When you start this fall, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, put aside that “i want to transfer” thing. You aren’t going to have fun! Even if the college isn’t great, just keep in mind that you probably have to stay there for a few years, it would be best to make friends and settle in.

Thanks but can you tell me specific schools?

What a statement! While you probably will not meet NY’s elite there, you’ll find hard working students from fine families.

If you’re aiming for top schools retake the SATs now. Some colleges will not accept new scores from much after you start college. Then get a 4.0 or close and accomplish things outside of the classroom.

Harvard does not accept transfers and the acceptance rate for transfers at Yale is about 3%, so focus on good but not uber top schools for your best shot.
