Recently I received an email saying that they wish to "discuss [my] record and report back for further consideration of your candidacy." May anyone please explain to me what this mean?

I maintained decent grades, but barely made it in to Cornell with a 3.6 and a lot of extracurriculars.

However I got a C in Calculus BC AP in the second semester of my senior year, but I also got a 5 on the AP test, which I plan to send due to my realization that I haven't sent it before.

Am I getting rescinded??

Can’t say for sure, but I doubt your are being rescinded. Once you’re into Cornell, it doesn’t matter whether or not you “barely” got in or had the stats of someone with a higher admissions chance. At this point, like all other admitted students, you’re likelihood of being accepted is 100%.

My guess is they want to make sure you are capable of handling the the courses for your intended major and are seeking to make sure you don’t start off on the wrong foot.

The worst thing you can do at this point is not be proactive. Make sure you are talking with whoever you are supposed to be talking with, and as soon as possible.

They generally just ask for an explanation of why you got that C. They want to know that you worked hard through senior year and got the C in spite of it. They don’t want to see that you slacked off and had a bad case of senioritis.

I don’t know, I’m no expert, but “discuss … and report back for further consideration of your candidacy” seems pretty darn clear to me.

My understanding is that all college admissions are contingent upon performance during senior year.

A lot of people get these messages, its more to scare you. I bet nothing will even happen to you.
