Am I over the Unit Limit for UC Berkeley?

I am planning on applying to UC Berkeley under the College of Letters and Science and a transfer from another UC campus. With my current schedule plan, I would go over the 120 unit limit if I count my community college course units from high school. On my current UC transcript, I have 13.5 quarter units transferred from CC. Would these units count toward exceeding the unit maximum?

No matter how many lower division courses you take (from a CCC, for example), they cap at 70. So with your 9 semester units from a UC (13.5 qtr), you’re at 79 units. You’re under the limit at all the UCs.

So, just to clarify, I have 9 semester units (13.5 qtr) from a community college and will end up taking around 110 quarter units at my current UC, totaling > 120 units. Some of the UC units are upper-division. I’m just wondering if the CC units will be used against me.

9 semester units from CC is well under the 70 semester unit cap.

But 110 quarter units = 73.3 semester units from a UC added to the 9 semester units makes 82.3 semester units, which could be a problem.

But note from that document that only UCD and UCM set a threshold below 82.3 semester units that could be a limitation on transfer admission (other campuses set thresholds at 86.5 or 90 semester units).

The document does not say anything special about college courses taken while in high school, though you can ask directly if you want.

If you only have CC units and no units from any 4 year university you can take as many units as you want without encountering any problems.

“*Students transferring to UCLA from 2-year colleges get a maximum of 105 quarter units applied to their degrees. Therefore, a 2-year college transfer with more than 129/86 units will still be considered a junior.”

edit: nvm i just saw where u mentioned you will have UC units

I’m sorry I thought it was reversed - 9 units from UC. The CCC units will be added in top of ALL UC units.
