Am I rejected??

everyone seems to have gotten an admission letter from NYU
or even an invitaton thingy
If I didn't hear from them by now does that mean I'm rejected?

I was freaking out about this earlier today until I called them and they told me not to freak out because they only send the invitations to 5% of the admitted students.... So dont worry, although it may seem like a lot of people are accepted, that is only 5% of the admitted pool.... the other 95% find out April 1

Ah.. what a relieve
I serioulsy thought I was rejected

thanx annakimwta

this makes me more anxious. i would be more relieved if i found out that i was rejected right NOW, than waiting 2 more weeks to find out. =(

but my hopes are alive!!!!! (not that i need hope).... ok im done talking-.-

what are both your stats like- 1989DC and wywantyou?

seriously? only 5%????? does that put me in a good position for scholarships and such? oh but i didn't get the saturday at the square thingy, i just got the regular university day invite...

lol I have no idea, but thats what they said. Maybe the admission officer said it to ease my stress level, but I doubt she'd lie about it.... Even though I feel like about half the world has already been accepted by NYU

yea, those numbers seem really odd. i am NOT a stellar student in any regard and i highly doubt i'm in their top 5%. top 95% would be close i assume lol.

could they really be sending this stuff out in waves? only one person from my school heard so far

5% seems a bit low considering the people that got the invite so far

CAS
i am a 3.3 w or uw.. im not sure becuase nyu tells me it doesnt matter.
top 9% 32/384
2010/2400 1320/1600
everything is excellent

i would have a good chance last year. this year seems diffferentttt

Can any current student attest to this?

I'm worried to because it seems like a lot of Stern applicants have already heard back...

Only 5%?....Well, I guess that proves how most of the top students linger around this forum...

yeah.. i'm getting extremely anxious.. only 4 more hours till the mailman arrives.. =(

ha, NOT me! I can assure you, that if they are just looking at grades and test scores, that I am, in no way, a "top tier" applicant. It may be because of my portfolio though!

hmmm. well i talked to the CAS Director of Admissions so maybe she meant top 5% for only the college of arts and sciences.... not for the rest? 0_o
