Sat CR: 660
Math: 710
Writing: 770 (the only good news on SAT)
Junior = my high school position
I am feeling really dejected (except for writing) :( :(
Will colleges realize that the difference between 710 and 800 was a few questions?? That CR is low enough.....:(
How do you harvardites prep for the critical reading? Is it passion for intellectual articles?

My ECs are pretty good.

I saw the other post which seems to indicate that anything below 1400 might not particularly impress admissions committee.

The one thing I have learned from reading all information in here is that you are never "screwed". If you bring something unique, I believe you will be embraced.

In addition, I think that having a positive attitude towards Harvard (or any other prestigious school) is important throughout the process, from writing an essay to a potential interview. If you feel confident you will convey that, and vice versa. I suspect that the future leaders Harvard in the end is trying to aid generally all have that one particular trait in common: confidence in themselves.

I suggest you read this thread for perspective on the admissions process. Better scores will never hurt you, but it's impossible to judge how much they can help.

I would never say one is completely screwed for admissions... i mean... let's face it... ppl do get into harvard with lower scores than that
just have confidence in yourself and hope for the best. good luck!

For comparison: Obviously, I took the "old" SAT, but I'll give you my SAT II Writing score to give you some idea:

SAT V: 710
SAT M: 680
SATIIW: 620

...so my scores are certainly similar to yours, and I got in. So no, you're not "screwed". You'll probably need some sort of strong "hook" though...

Remember that Harvard is a reach for everyone; plenty of 2400's are going to get rejected next year. Try to bring your scores up if you can, but whether they go up or not, apply to a wide range of schools and keep an open mind about them. In other words, don't give up on your dream, but at the same time know that it really doesn't have to be Harvard.

Your scores are fine for many many colleges...the posters on this site focus alot on the top 30 or so schools...you only need that strong HOOK thing for a certain number of schools...

Why would you be "screwed"- you will have lots of choices if you are smart in making your application decisions
