I got 790 in chem and 780 in us history.

I know those are good scores. But I'm a little disappointed.

I got 790 in chem and 780 in us history.

I know those are good scores. But I'm a little disappointed.

Very silly, I would say.

And I thought my 710 in Chemistry was a perfectly respectable score.

Seriously, if you want to get into Yale or Harvard (and i know, i asked my cousins there) almost everyone has at least two 800's on SatIIs, i thought everyone knew that!

No no. too silly. Please appreciate yourself

IvyPremed, Do your cousins have access to all the scores? (Doubt that.)

D, not URM btw, got into Yale (didn't care for H; didn't apply) & 2 other Elites with >700 on 2 of the SAT II's. And no 800's on any SAT II's. She did not study for them; she took them 5 months after she finished the courses.

She's not a science major, but her classmates who are science majors did similarly on the SAT II's & didn't get particularly worked up about it.

no you know what, i don't think you're being unreasonable. i think what a lot of people don't understand is that when you know your scores are going to be high up there, it's just a little frustrating to be so close to that 800 and not quite get it. i was the same way with my act. i know a lot of people would kill for a 35, but it's soooo close to that holy grail that, yes, i was admittedly disappointed. i know it's not so much the fact that you think you're stupid for getting those scores, but disappointment that it's so close to the perfect.

epiphany,
Does your D has amazing GPA? How about her EC's?

I'm "only" going to Dartmouth, not HYPSMwhatever, but for whatever it's worth, my scores were 800 (French), 750 (Literature), 710 (Chemistry), 710 (Biology-M), 700 (Math II), and 700 (Spanish)-- and I'm white and international. Save your perfectionism for something that's actually worth worrying about.

Camelia,
Did you apply to a science major?

I think I expressed interest in neuroscience, geography, and studio art, or some equally ridiculous assortment of unrelated majors. :p

TRFA, yes and yes. (I'll PM you.)

birk44 pretty much summed it up

I studied hard to get high scores in both of the tests... and with me, the commitment I put in always stirs up high expectations.

So.. I'm fine with my scores.. but I was disappointed that I was so close to 800s in both of them.

epiphany could you forward the pm to me also?

:) see i think you know that if you get into harvard, but not yale, it won't be because you missed one question too many on your sat II. it's more for personal satisfaction than anything else, right? i'm the exact same way, as i assume many people on cc are.

You should be extremely disappointed! Those are terrible scores and you should cry for the shame you've brought upon the human race.

Just kidding, don't be disappointed, there's nothing wrong with getting a 780 or 790 vs. an 800, even if you're a perfectionist like me.

epiphany... can you PM me as well?

thanks.

Yes, you are silly.

Nope. You fail.

[/sarcasm]

Most people would love to have those scores. I know I would.

Disappointed, NO. Frustrated....aww, yes!! Just 1 and 2 questions away from an 800 must stink >.<. But hey, at least colleges do realize how close you were too o.O. Sooo...it's still something to be proud of!

Still - I feel ya, man! :/
