OMG people, I couldn’t watch until tonight and was DYING to see what happened in the show that there were 25 posts here on CC about it - turns out you all are just talking about PAPER MAPS!!!
I actually thought the show really dragged. We saw WAY too many repeat tries. And I really sort of hated the challenges. They were all so much alike in a way.
Gotta give it to Derek and Claire making up SO MUCH ground.
I wonder why they decided no non-elims. Did they ever say why? Are there less overall episodes??
I was hoping it was all the letters I wrote after last season when they kept pardoning the father/daughter over and over and over again…I was certain there were more non-elimination legs in that season than ever before…
Hooray! We’re back to 90 minute episodes! Although the editing on this one made it feel much too long…
I still don’t have a favorite team (that doesn’t usually happen this early anyway), but I do hope the twins go far, I think I’ll enjoy watching them learn about one another.
Don’t get too excited; it was a one-off. The two weeks of expanded episodes of Survivor (weeks 1 and 2) and TAR (week 2) were just to fill the time slot until The Real Love Boat, hosted by Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn, premieres this week.
90 minutes is rare. They’ve done it a couple of times for premieres (Seasons 17 and 26), but I cannot recall an episode longer than an hour that was neither the premiere nor the finale.
Based on her also not knowing how to use a ratchet wrench, I’m wondering if that will be sooner rather than later. Although I guess the mega leg is sort of a substitute for a non-elimination leg. As someone who grumbles and complains my way through any hard task or setback I wouldn’t last five minutes on a team with Dom. I like putting all my negative energy out into the universe.
I often fantasize about who would do what if my D & I were on TAR…I would enjoy the motorcycle challenge (I brought my “team” to win “gold” at a K-1 go cart work event by swapping out the tires on a go cart in record time - I’m quite mechanical for a 60+ woman!); D would ace the physiology challenge (she’s always been fascinated by the human body) so I’d just let her push me in the right direction; and we would have both enjoyed the cheese challenge.
I still don’t have any team I’m rooting for but so wish those with long hair would tie it up or back!
Overall I thought the episode was good fun. Something is missing though and I can’t put my finger on it.
That motorcycle challenge…I would have still been there at my next birthday. For me it would have been ungodly hard.
Claire has had a couple of tough challenges (at least for her) - that means Derek will be the lead in some challenges soon - he may help them to shine.
I don’t know that I’d fully know how to use a ratchet wrench under that pressure.
I own a professional set of tools including several ratchet wrenches - I’m on it! The first thing I bought myself when we moved into our house was a cordless Mikita drill - I’ve since downsized to a corded version as it weighs substantially less.
So disappointed in the father/daughter team this week. I know that anxiety is real, but maybe going on this show wasn’t the best idea… Happy they’re still in it, and hopefully she can begin to enjoy the experience.
Dom drove me crazy. She’s preaching to everyone to be calm and Zen and have a positive outlook, then she was the first to give up. She looked like a hot mess at the finish line. Glad the twins did well.
Yay for the twins! There are actually some really positive teams. Good attitudes.
But I have to say, as much as I don’t care for the pink rainbow team, I can’t say that I feel good about the father/daughter team still being there. The dad was as encouraging as he could be.
