mylohlily… and mum… glad to hear about your visits. I’m sure if my S gets in next year he will go back for the accepted students day too. As far as the FA, please let me know how that goes… I have heard that they are not very generous and that would probably be the deciding factor for us. That is why my S will be casting his net wide and not getting too excited about any one school until all the FA pans out. Other than that it seems like a perfect fit for him.

Did your daughter receive any scholarships? I was wondering because it looks like my S would be able to get into the honors college too and was wondering… do most of those kids get awarded some sort of scholarship?

Oh… we live in CA, so 8 hrs away sounds like nothing.:-((

My son was accepted to UVM into the honors program and got a 5K merit. Just not enough to make it worthwhile. My brother went to med school there and really liked it…but that was a long time ago and the prices were a heck of a lot lower :)

5boys , She did. She received $6000 Presidential and $2000 Henderson. Still waitng to see if the financial aid makes it possible to attend. And you are right, 8 hrs is nothing compared to having to travel across the country. Its just that she is my oldest and I am having seperation anxiety already. She was offered a very nice package to attend American, which would be 2.5 hrs away, however I (we) really fell in love with the whole atmosphere of UVM. American is great, don’t get me wrong, UVM was just really unique.

That’s great about the scholarship! I will be curious to see how much FA is awarded. Isn’t UVM’s COA up in the 40’s? I still have my hopes up for FA even after everyone has told me otherwise. My S won’t even look at any schools in CA. He has always been VERY independent at heart so it really doesn’t surprise me that he wants a new adventure in college. He is actually in VT right now at a school for HS Juniors. He LOVES it and really has no desire to come back. He has some western state school on his list… Whitman, Colorado College, so maybe I can push him into being only a 2 hr PLANE ride away… sigh
