I'm currently a freshman and I want to do well on the AMC 10, I know there are many practice problems and so forth but I have absolutely no idea how to solve some of the later questions on the test. I don't think my reasoning or logic are the problem, my algebra teacher was terrible in middle school and we did not go in depth at all. Are there any practice books or prep courses to help bridge the gap on the advanced algebra and geometry that's on the test and what I've learned?

AoPS “Introduction to Algebra” and “Introduction to Geometry” are great starting resources. There are also intermediate versions which are more AMC12-AIME level. “First Steps for Math Olympians” is also a good book.

As MITer pointed out, the fundamentals are important, but also download some of the released exams and take them until timed situations. Personal advice: it turns out that just casually glancing at the problems isn’t enough…
